Besides taking my foot off the right pedal, whats the best solution to stopping axle tramp. I CANNOT give it more then half throttle in 1st gear or else it'll shake the dash to bits = I cant get a good take off.
I was thinking front and rear solid mounts (solid steel..)
besides this....what else?

An LSD?

An LSD?
Was hoping to keep the spending under $1300 lol.
Solid motor mounts seem the go, just seeing if anyone else has any other suggestions...
it's crap though. HRD2GT just spins his wheels, i'd much prefer that to BANG BANG BANG BANG

solid mounts may not actually be helpful as more vibration is transfered through to the chassis instead of being absorbed.
Stiffer shocks and stiffer springs may help.

LSD, strut brace, sway bars, engine mounts. You'll never completely get rid of it in a FWD, but those things will help.

3000GT owners love them....95% reckon they cant actually feel a difference at all, and with all the noise my car makes I dont think a small vibration will bug me lol.
Eh guess its solid motor mounts then

Are you meaning solid steel mounts or solid polyurethane mounts?
Solid steel sounds quite hardcore!

Yeah mate, solid steel mounts, these go 2nd hand very often on the forums for a fraction of the price. Was thinking of F + R to eliminate the engine moving front and back.

Go the solid mounts, can't hurt if they are cheapish.
Plus they shouldn't be too hard to pop in

Will be interesting to see how these go.
Axle tramp has always been one of my hates.

stiffer suspension will reduce it most of all.
A nice set of coilovers would go a treat in your car.

Unfortunately due to my bank balance my suspension will stay as is, and its pretty damn stiff as it is (Type40 can attest to that)

Mine has been pretty savage, changed all mounts x 2, its done a diff (kept my foot into it lol), recently it gotten a whole lot worse. I am sure its the clutch on mine, It has thrown out the dampening springs on the clutch plate and i think a couple of fingers on pressure plate are weak, causing it not to run true.

So it has just std rubber in it yeah?
Maybe some polyurethane mounts in the front and rear? I want to do the rear next in mine to just get that last bit out of it...

Yep just all standard. I dunno, I'm not calling it half assed in a sense but if im gonna try and rid it I mightaswell just do it the best possible way...
+ Hey, if its bolted directly to the chassis i wont need an earthing kit!

A form of wheel hop which is usually found in live axle cars. It occurs when sudden torque loads on the suspension cause the driven wheels to shake violently by slightly rotating the wheels and then springing back.
I kinda guessed what it was but googled for ya mozz... Im guessing only happens seriously when you have too much torque

so with this definition, you're saying im getting axle tramp every time i spin the wheels in my car as it reults in a very violent very hard jumping around inside the cabin...

SO is this what happens if I accelerate quickly, and hit a bump hard enough for the front tyres to completely break traction.... and I get a monstorous thud/bang sound (only done that a few times thank god)

Live axle is a solid axle connecting both wheels. So instead of independent suspension, it's just one solid axle. When you hit bumps, both sides move together as they're part of the same axle. Ford Mustangs in America I believe still use this setup on the rear of their cars.

Yes.
Yea, I get it badly if I floor it upon takeoff in the dry too... Always figured it was because the shitty 3lt auto didn't have enough torque to spin properly? In the wet it just spins.
These days I just take off slowly then floor it up to the speed limit to avoid breaking traction haha.

ok now that weve established what it is. what damage does it cause?

I'd imagine it would put some stress on your front shocks and other suspension componants since they are jumping up and down rapidly?

may an anti-lift kit help?
yann, you are damaging your engine mounts and also your differential. Probably more if you look into it.

My VZ does it a fair bit depending on the tyres I have....unfortunatlly it's inherent in the suspension design, so not too much I can do about it but take more care in take offs. Having good shocks definitely helps though.

yeh thats what makes sense...just looking over, probably killa few CV's aswell...hmm
btw, i get this quite bad. i have Koni shocks with whiteline springs in the front of my car.
surprisingly, i had it less with the stock suspension. or maybe it just wasnt as violent...

take it that you have adjustable konis, try adjusting the dampening a bit. Might help. I don't get axle tramp anymore but i have the anti lift casters on top of koni reds and king lows.

I've never had tramp in the magna. the VW on the other hand... wet, dry, doesn't matter. it'll tramp before the ESP kicks in. with the ESP completely turned off I get a limited amount of wheel spin and hardly any tramp.
