The car i bought came with an aftermarket h u and ive got my own i'd like to put in, the screen folds down/out and there is a gap either side for a key or something to go down to pull it out, any idea's how to remove it?

go to an audio store and ask them to use their keys to pull the head unit out, it's only a 2 second job.

so you wanna swap h/u's ay?
you need to rip apart the center console and swap h/u's over
the hardest part is pulling apart the dash ;)

well unless you can undo/tighten screws with your mind then yeah it cant be done
if your car has climate control it'll make it so much easier then ones with manual controls as me and 86_elite found out when we took apart his old mans TJ

Search is your friend. Many old threads explaining how to remove lower panels, unclip the air-control cable (it runs up to centre-vents), unscrew the audio/air-con panel, and so on. Some threads have absolutely excellent pictures showing you exactly what to do. Its no hard at all, but you WILL break tings if you just start trying to pull stuff away without knowing what to do. Search "console remaoval' "HU removal" etc
