Hey - First post anywhere, anytime, anyhow - tah dahhhh.

I've done a search and can't see any talk of this cause to the flooding footwell problem. Have an 04 KW AWD Verada (whiteline rear bar on hardest and front strut brace) and last week down on the NSW South Coast there was bucket loads of rain one night. Went to go to the shops next morning and there was about 15cm of water in the drivers footwell !! Much bailing and sopping to get the car drivable.

Anyhow, after pulling apart the front of the car apart expecting some windscreen/cabin air intake or firewall leak, noticed some unusual water drops on the drivers side rear wheel hump while getting tools from the boot.

Checked further and found there was a small stream of water from there, through the boot, under the rear seat, through the the rear passenger footwell, under the drivers seat, pooling in the driver footwell.

Turns out that parking nose down fairly steeply (which I have never done usually) has cause water to pool in the dip at the bottom of the rear windscreen/top of boot lid to the point that water enters the boot (via haven't checked further yet but air vent or windscreen leak or something ?).

Stuffed a $20 industrial strength Woolies hairdryer under the carpet and underlay and 2 days later all is dry.

Given the rain lately, hope this helps.

Cheers

normally the water enters the car when theres a rubber gorment missing in the firewall
might be your case, but also check the seal on the windscreen and the black plastic under the wipers for cracks (runs full length of windscreen)

Could be the boot seal is perished or misplaced on the lip, or the rear window maybe leaking. Get someone to jump in the boot with a torch while you hit the back end with a hose and see if they can see where the water is getting in.

Mr Roberto et al...

Any idea if it is an easy job to replace that black plastic that runs along the bottom of the windscreen. How much for a new one, any idea?

Mine is cracked.

Cheers.

Thanks, I'll look closer at the boot seal.

Is there a drain tube from up in that area (bottom of rear window) that might be blocked.

Having just pulled all that stuff out after opening the bonnet its only about 4 or 5 screws and a little jiggling to get the plastic covers loose (which the plastic strips are attached to). Looked like a simple slide out/slide in replace for the strip. Don't know if the strips are readily available - I'd take it out and go check at local providor. Worst case you get to put the old strip back.
