Has anyone had to replace there driveshafts/CV's yet? Mine is going in on friday for a look but if the knocking and amount of play i can feel while wobbling it is anything to go by,its stuffed all right.

Could it be an ex rental car?

Ex Gov, had 56k when i bought it.Didn't have a towbar then either so I took that out of the equation.Maybe its all the 0-100's i've given it:woot:,or the previous owner:eek2:

could be your front sway bay bushes. They are notorious for wearing out quickly and producing a knock felt thru steering wheel over bumps due to sway bar being able to slide freely as bushes arent holding anymore. They are $7.50 each from mitsubishi and you need 2. I doubt it would be CVs at that many kays unless its had a hard life.

Oh deary....if its a slight knock you guys are talking about then mine was evident when I bought the car with 26,000km on it!

Well it wasn't the driveshafts after all, which suprised me as the left one did seem to have a lot of movement but all normal apparently! Turns out the knocking I was hearing was the top strut nut, not tight enough i was told! This surprised me as I saw them get done up when it got lowered. My thinks that maybe the recent offroad trip into a national park on a nasty road is to blame, made the left side mirror come very loose indeed and gave the rear view mirror a near permanent vibrating noise. All sorted now though!Seems a few guys here (all been lowered?)have suspension noise so maybe check the strut nut, this applies to the rear also.

Yeah, roads were very corrugated in sections but the kids enjoyed there first time in the dirt. Can see the attraction of 4WD holidays. The rear view mirror was the most annoying though after the trip, on certain types of road at no particular speed, it sounded like a bee was trapped in there!:woot:
