I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before, is there a conversion guide for installing 6x9 speakers into a TR Magna, whats the best way to approach it? I found the head changeover guide in the other forum which worked a treat. The modding has begun :D.

Cheers.

'conversion guide'??

pretty much the speakers can't be horizontal on the parcel shelf unless you use spacers. they have to be vertical (when looking from top). the holes are pre-cut.

Hack the holes bigger or use spacers. Autobarn have them. Don't crank them up or you lose your rear screen. (joke)

'hacking up' the parcel shelf is illegal and unroadworthy.

you dont need to cut the steel part of the parcel shelf anyway, just the carpet mat.

The steel shelf does not need cutting. It already has a 6x9 hole. What MaxMax was saying is to cut the mat to be the same size as the underlying hole in the metal shelf. I did it a while ago and in actual fact, I did not cut anything. I left the speaker grill and hole in mat as stock and just mounted the 6x9 into the metal. The existing 6" speakers mount to the 6x9 using brackets.

I had a parcel shelf carpet with no grilles, but still had the 6by9 holes stamped out in the metal of the parcel shelf. Traced the holes with a permanent texta from inside the boot, pulled out back seat to take out the mat, cut the holes out, bolted 6x9s in and glued speaker grille cloth (as used on the front of home hifi big boxy speakers) to the underside of the parcel shelf carpet to cover the silly silver swirly plastic grilles, and keep out dirt etc. Only now the sun has faded the speaker grille cloth and it looks slightly red/pink.

I am going to ask a silly question why did mitsi put the speaker holes "sideways" it is like it in my mates lancer and it just doesn't look right but as I want to keep my child anchorage points I'm just going to settle for my 6x9's being in the "wrong way"

So that if you decide to cut extra holes for more speakers, its an inspiration to try and fit 6 side by side rather than just a row of 4 =D

hmmm would I have room for 2 10" subbies between them... nah don't want the car seat to be unsafe and I can't afford engineering or certification atm.
