Whenever I turn left slowly I get a cracking sound from I believe the right rear large plastic rear bumper panel.
If you give it a prod it flexes heaps.(quite flimsy actually) Wonder if it just that or something else. Anyone have similar creaks and groans?

Turned out to be the wheel brace kit loose in the jack compartment:woot:

Where is the wheelbrace supposed to sit anyway? Mine flogs around all the time, just sits in the spare wheel & rattles metal on metal.

Don't you have it in it's little plastic bag?
I jam mine down the side of the the spare wheel, between the wheel and the well, so that it doesn't move or rattle at all. I hate rattles, squeaks & groans and always hunt them down & eliminate them. None at all in my car now, all I have left is a very light ticking sound at idle which is probably the lower injector seals, and a tiny diff whine when holding the cruise control wand down to stop it picking up speed down a hill.

Nope I haven't got a bag, it was on top of the spare from new. Doesn't rattle all the time but every now & then I get a metallic clank which is the wheel spanner moving.
My only other noise is my pod slurping air at idle & subtle sound of the blower rotors spinning :woot:

I'm with you kj380 as far as rattles go, they annoy the cr@p out of me. I still havent had one rattle or squeak in my 380 and considering its lowered and a harder ride, I think it is testament to the way Mitsubishi built these cars. (Just wish they could have made them a couple of hundred kilo's lighter )

As far as i can see there is a compartment on the right hand side in boot, mines in there and you just tension it by screwing it up

Ok I'll check that out, a bit ordinary that I have owned the car three years from new & it was never put in the right place from the start.

I'm pretty sure that where Chrisv and Foozer say 'wheel brace' they are talking about the two piece jack handle, and not the scissor jack itself, which as you rightly say sits in the compartment on the RHS tensioned up so it can't move.
Or maybe Chrisv and Foozer are talking about an aftermarket wheel brace, such as an X-brace. I have one of these in my boot as well as the stock jack handle, as it's much easier to undo or tighten wheel nuts with than the stock jack handle. I've got a fold up one which only just jams down between the spare wheel and wheel well. Before that I had a fixed X-brace and there was nowhere out of the way to store it in the boot. So I put it inside the spare wheel but as with Foozer it rattled too much, which is why I went for a fold up version instead.

I had a look & yep the jack is in the drivers side compartment thingo but I have the black tool bag & a cross brace to undo the wheelnuts laying in the centre of the spare which is what I said rattles. Is it supposed to clip in somewhere or aren't I supposed to have the cross type wheelbrace?

Got it in one.
The scissor jack and the 'black bag' with the two piece wheel brace come jack handle are OEM, but the cross type wheelbrace isn't, the previous owner must have left it behind There is nowhere for the black bag to clip in, let alone a cross type wheel brace, ya just gotta find the best way of storing them so they don't rattle. Which is why I went for a collapsible / fold up cross brace, it *just* squeezes down the side of the spare tyre (OEM 16" alloy). If you have a larger spare, and especially something as big as a 19" spare, then there probably isn't any room to squeeze anything down the side of it.

Just found out today why I have a cross type wheel brace in the boot of my car.
I bought the car new with the 19" wheels fitted by the dealer & the standard wheel brace will not fit into the socket where the wheel nuts are on the wheel.
So that means either Bob Jane or Mitsubishi themselves were smart enough to supply the cross type wheel spanner in case I got a flat with the 19's.
All you other guys might wanna check that the stock wheelbrace in the car fits your wheels otherwise you might be in trouble if you get a flat!!

You mean, getting the socket end into the recess to reach the wheel nuts? If so, yes my original brace won't do it either... fortunately from my Magna days (same problem even with 17s) I bought an aftermarket brace that includes an extension piece that fits into the rim to the nut first.
Yes without this, you cannot change the 19s (assuming all/most 19s are the same).

i got the same groan when turning left - noise coming from rear wheel.. i always thought it was springs, however i just lowered my car with new springs and shocks and noise still there.. it was gone 4 a week after getting car lowered, but its back.. very annoying - makes car feel cheap. gotta get rid of it.

I'm thinking its the plastic bumper panel.. they are very flimsy.. I also get a similar noise from the back (of my 06 380 ES s2).. Although Ive only noticed it reversing out of the garage, so it could just be the storm water drain.

I'm convinced its the flimsy rear bumper just flexing
