Hey all,
I was wondering if this will fit across the back of the boot (ski port is covered with kids seats anyways!).
Jaycar Sub & Amp combo. (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=CS2271&CATID=15&form=CAT&SUBCATID=396)
Only needs power, earth, signal and RCA's, and easy to remove if I need to get prams etc in there.
Cheers, Greg.

will be fine, just depends on what you want to get out of it.. looks like a sealed box, so it wont go super loud at 200wrms, but if you are just after a little bit extra then i dont see a problem

12" Active Subwoofer
This will truly bring your car stereo to life. With 200WRMS on tap from a class AB amp feeding straight to a 12" driver in a ported enclosure, it provides an amazing distortion-free powerful bass reproduction. Features include phase switching, variable low pass filtering and variable bass boost. A straightforward, simple to install design, it is stylishly finished in a resistant vinyl and urethane plastic. A belt harness is also supplied to secure the unit in the boot of your car.
Im pretty sure it says its ported. But yeah hasnt got much power.

Yeah it's not that large.
I would look at it first, when I seen it, it looks very cheap. But in saying that, how much do you look at your speaker compared to listening to them....
200WRMS is plenty if the woofer is efficient. The box is ported so there is some more SPL.
Vibe makes a nice CBR Active box loaded with a 12inch BlackAir if you save a bit longer :D

Also if it has the Amp mounted to the box i wouldnt go for it unless you can mount it somewhere else. As the vibration will eventually kill most amps.

They make amps they are designed to be mounted on the box.
Vibe, DD, Focal have all done it with success. If you buy a decent amp you don't need to worry.

I know there is amps that can be i just stated that it would kill most. And as this is a cheap setup i just thought it was worth mentioning that after time the amp could fail in this situation.

I can honestly say I have never heard of anyone having a problem running an amp on a sub box and this is a random list from 1500WRMS Fusion amps to Audison to Jaycar to Treo. Very rare these days.

Had a quick look at Vibe box, bit bigger than the Jaycar one, can't find a price for Tassie (closest dealer is Melb), so I'm guessing it's going to be dearer, even before freight.
Really, the Jaycar unit, even though it has less power, will suit my needs perfectly fine. I'm too old for doof! Mainly JJJ stuff I listen to, so something that is a bit of an all rounder will suit me better. I've spoken to my local Jaycar shop already, and the amps are designed for this application, so vibrations shouldn't be too much of an issue.
But it's good to see different opinions being aired, with it dissolving into a shit fight!
Cheers, Greg.
