As i was watching Bathurst and pondering the meaning of life...

When you do a manual conversion on a auto that has trace/traction control....

what happens to this....is this a control function of the auto ecu and do you loose it when you do the conversion, or can it be retained ????

could still work if the manual ecu has T/C aswell

You do loose it, however it is possible to keep it by doing some wiring, these is someone here that kept his traction control,

No need, keep the auto ecu. Works fine just disable the inhibitor

Yes you do loose TC when going from auto to manual. When the auto to manual conversion was done on my KJ i noticed when the wheels slipped, the TCL light would still flash in the dash but of course power was not automatically reduced. In a manual Magna your right foot is TC.

So what part of the car actually controls the traction control ? If ,as you say,the light still flashed, but there was no reduction in "power"...is the auto box the traction control...

Bit confused, as you say you can retain the auto ecu,but by changing boxes,it doesnt work....

The traction control is controled by the ecu retarding the igniton timing, and not throttle as magnas are not fly by wire, when slip is detected power is reduced by the igntion retarding, so yes undo lose your tc, but it is possible to keep it.
