hi guys, my 90k service is due (love that cute little spanner icon in the tripcomp display)
anyway this is my first service with the VR-X and I wonder if I can ask for certain aftermarket parts to be installed while they're servicing the car.
like higher quality brake pads for example
what kind of things could I ask for? how do I ask for them? do I provide a product code? or so I buy the part and give it to them and ask them to install it during the service?
any info is welcomed, thanks

should I?
sorry I've never owned more than a shitheap I kept running myself (never serviced)
where do you suggest I take it?

I have my TL serviced at the dealership but with my KS i do it at home, it depends on what you are comfortable with, if you know a reliable mechanic than have it go there or DIY... most important is the oil and filter changes anyway followed by if an auto, regular transmission flushes should keep you out of trouble for some time.

I have a mech I know and trust, thanks for the advice.
any quick items I can ask for upgraded versions of instead of stock while the car is being serviced?

The only other thing that springs to mind as part of scheduled servicing is a K&N panel filter. While they're a common mod, they seem to make SFA difference to performance - the only real advantage is that they're reusable.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think brake pads came under scheduled servicing - I thought they were just done on an as-needed basis.

90k service may want to look at your timing belt replacement, there are a number of threads about this Dayco & Gates are 2 good after market brands. Belt only is $150-200 and full kit (tensioners pully etc is about $320). Brakes are a need by need, but if they have only a little life left good idea to replace them while the car is "up on the hoist". Depends on your driving style and budget but again a number of threads on brake pads. May pay to get the rotors machined at this time as well if you are putting in new pads. I'd also get all the fluids flushed aka radiator, oils (engine and gearbox/transmission) and brake fluid. That way you know when it was done. If you have a auto only use the Mitsubishi transmission fluid, not overly priced but is the prefered fluid for the auto boxes. Also if you are getting the timing belt done put on new power steering / air con belts, they have to come off anyway.
Hope this helps,
