Hey guys, new to the forums and a great one it is!

We have a '95 TS Executive in our possession. It's actually my girlfriends car but i am doing a few things to it to "fix it up" and make it look not so rough (as we got it in pretty poor condition, for free, so can't complain i guess.)

Things ive done so far.
- Swapped motor for another 2.6L, this ones in tip top condition. The old one was so smokey and rattly we ended up not being able to take it on the road (draws too much attention!).
- Swapped the uncomfortable steering wheel to one out of a '95 SE. It's got the "lever" style cruise control on it, and not the buttons like a lot of Verada's i see. (And yes i know the car doesn't have cruise, but i might put it in, and this wheel is 10x better than the old one.)
- Changed rear seat upper to that of a Verada one, with the same "material" but it has the head rests. Looks awesome.
- Fitted a Verada clock.
- Fixed the stereo. Popped in some new 4" in the dash and "mounted" the 6x9's that was sitting on the shelf, and routed the wiring properly through the side wiring channels and not just "on the floor". :kb:
- Fitted some nice chrome exhaust tips...these were on a car at a wreckers ... thought they look cool (mine was just steel pipes)...turns out they weren't welded on and i just pulled em off..$7..not too shabby and they came up mint..just like new!
- Replaced the drivers door card which was ripped.

So yeah that's what i've done. There are a few more things i wish to do, and if you can tell me if they will work/fit, it would be appreciated.

I found a Maroon Elite at the local Wreckers. It's pretty stuffed in the front, but i want to ...
1- Take the boot lid and put it on this one. It has the extra lights in the center area (which i can wire up) [My boot has dents and deep scratches].
2- Take the taillights to match the tailgate.
3- Take the instrument cluster (which looks nicer with the white dials and italic lettering.)
4- Take the spoiler off a boot lid from a red Magna and paint and fit it onto this new boot lid. (and wire the brake light).
5- Grab some 15" alloys and fit them, as they look better then the dark gray hubcaps on this at the moment.

Will these idea's work...simple as just swapping the parts and wiring the lights? Will the cluster be a direct swap?
Not being dodgy, but is there a way to wind the odo back on the Elite cluster (which has 300k+ on it and my car has only 260k and motor has only 130k on it).

Also im contemplating the front end...i like the para headlights...but i dunno if they'll look good with the half maroon half gray front bumper...maybe it needs a Verada bumper. But then again, i like these Diamante front ends with the slimmer lights and chrome surrounds...where do you find these!?

Ok enough for now...thanks again.

Regarding the cluster: just remove the screws, remove plastic cover, take black thing off. take all 3 dials out. its the same to re-install in urs. simple

6) diamante headlights

gday mate welcome to the club and congrats on your latest acquisition...

1) if your car is maroon and your boot is badly faded/damaged, yeah swap it over, it's a direct fit though you'll have to swap the electric boot release fot a lever-type (easy)

2) tail lights will be a direct fit on the Elite bootlid, will need to cut holes on any other model except for KR Verada Xi and KS Ei/Xi.

3) dont need to remove the entire cluster, just crack it open and remove the dials. this will save you possibly damaging the cluster by rewinding it and it'll be cheaper. you will need to remove the needles for this, there is a DIY on changing dials.

4) bootlid spoiler is also easy, I fitted one to my TR a while ago and wiring the brakelight is simple, just run it to the high-mount in-cabin because you wont need it anymore

5) 15' alloys are easy to find. if after market make sure they're between +38 to +45 offset.

6) diamante headlights are tough to find but theyre accessible, once in a blue moon a set will appear here. Do yourself a favour, if you find a maroon car, get all the colour coded bits off it so it saves you repainting it, then try and find a Diamante front bar which has foglights (no Australian model has these).

there's a wealth of 2nd gen information on these forums. good luck:)

sounds like its coming along nicly.

im not to sure but are the elite's v6 or 4cyl? if they are v6 they would have a 220km speedo rather then the 200 in the astron??

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, appreciate your help!

I will get some pics up asap to show all the bits n pieces ive been doing.

The elite that was at the wreckers was a 4cyl, and had the 200km/h speedo, thats why it caught my attention to being able to be swapped over. I thought the Elite was like the Camry's Ultima...4cyl, but all the features and gadgets?

Taking the facia's and needles off the cluster is a great idea...saves mucking around then!
Also, the Elite had the "holes" or whatever you call it, cut out in the tailgate where these extra lights are...i was specifically looking for models that did have it, as i wanted to wire them in and not have to cut the boot. My boot has some hefty scratches and dents in the double panel area's, so it's awesome i found one that is maroon! The spoiler on the red car i will just paint after i sand it down smoothly.
Is there a model that didn't have that 3rd brake light in the back shelf? If i put the spoiler on i might just leave the one on the shelf, although i know what you mean by it's not needed...just don't want a light that doesn't work, or a hole in the shelf.

I'll keep an eye out on here for that Diamante front end...although i'm sure they'd be snapped up pretty quickly !

Pics up soon...thanks again guys. :)

if the car you get the spoiler on was factory fitted with it then it shouldnt have the high mount brake light in the window.

Cool cool, i'll look at it next time i'm there. Do they have a blank plate on the shelf or is it a different shelf with no cutout?

it'll probably be a different shelf mat without the light cutout.

PS dont forget to make a members machiens thread :)

Not really ey, My (smaller) spoiler was factory fitted and we also had the parcel shelf light in too...

point taken mine was a KS spoiler (the three-point mount thicker type)

Yeah this spoiler is a 2 mount type (at either end). Can't remember if it was a TS or TR atm, but it was a basic model i know that.

A question regarding the Elite i found at the wreckers. It's a TR i assume (as I've read there were no TS Elite's).. will the color coded inner panel on the boot lid (where the number plate goes), fit onto this Elite boot (which has a black inner panel)? I'm not sure which i'll use...kinda like the black, but may want to change it to the color coded one.

Also are the taillights a direct swap over?

Everything from any 2nd gen is a direct swap, except for some you need a little modding. Tail light will fit right in no probs.

wrong

the Elite backpanel for the number plate is separate from the garnish and will need to be bought in order for fitment. If you want a colour coded one, you can either cut your one (will be ugly) or find another Elite and take the backing off that and put it on yours after painting.

Thought so! Something about it was different. I guess i'll just live with the black, or if anything, i can just spray up the back panel with some color matched paint. So if i grab the entire bootlid + the actual tailights it should all go in no trouble, and i'll just have to wire up the inner lights (and boot spoiler if i get that too). Thanks guys! I'll snap some pics today of the car as it is now.
