I bought a Electric Rear View Mirror off ebay, and I think its short a lens or two.

The sensors front and rear seem to be missing a clear cap, but as I don't have one in original condition, I can't tell.
If you have a pic around could you please post it up here.

I searched for 20 mins or so, zilch, any hints on wiring be awesome too.

Mods Please correct the typing ' Chromatic ' in the title for future search Reference pls.

Just had a look at mine.

It hasn't got any clear caps at all - back or front. Works fine too.

Ffeeky has a cap on the interior, and not one forward facing, he's using 'the blutack mod' to block out the front sensor so it works to suit him....

just had a look though the pics with me on my SD card, and i havent got any car shots on there, and the separate lift that goes to the carpark isnt working so there is 3 flights of stairs to get to it. Ill send you a pic in the morning when i go down to the car.

The 'blutack mod'......which is what exactly? How does it work? Any benefits?

Blutack to the front sensor, completely blocks all incoming light so the mirror operates at its darkest setting.
Sounds as though the work best with both caps off, or both caps on.

Yep, Blutack mod works best when highway driving and someone ages back has bright lights, as the mirror wont dim until they are closer. If you block out the front sensor, it will stay fully dimmed at all times. I find Blutack works best, as i can keep a small blob in the centre console lid and it stays in one piece when you go to pull it off the mirror

No caps here on mine, the blutac idea sounds good.

These Mirrors sounds like they work when more light enters through the cab of the car, exceeding the light from the front so it dims.
So, as I have tinted rear windows, I might lay a small film of tint over the front sensor so the mirror becomes more active.
Well it sounds good in theory.
Will keep you posted.

I think if you have to resort to a manual exercise to use the mirror, you may as well get an ordinary day/night jobby.

Thats why i got a jap spec one off a 2nd gen diamante, it has Auto, Day and Night setting. so i can have it dark blue all the time or the standard all the time. also i cracked a windscreen sliding my mirror off, a big chunk of glass came off with the bracket. I didnt want this to happen again and the jap diamante one screws to roof (mounting holes are there under lining) and my new windscreen has no bracket. with wiring i just ran a wire spliced into the lighter power, so that it doesnt stay on with car off, and placed it up under pillar cover and earthed the mirror to the mounting bolt. the one i have has a backlight behind buttons so i didnt want it on all the time, which is why i couldnt run it off the interior light power. plus i dont smoke so the cigi lighter NEVER gets used. heres a pic, it matches better than the pic suggests, was takin off my phone at night, there is very little difference in tone.

Wiring for Electro Chromatic mirror to a Magna w/out the E/C Side mirror. The first wire is black (-) the next is the positive. The other two are not used.
