I have always used the genuime Mitsubishi coolant, which came in 3l litre container and which one can then dilute as one chooses. it was cheap too. Now no longer available. Only premixed available at $59/5l. Hot happy. Have been offered Hyundai concentrate. Alternative will be to find some other good coolant. Local (good) mechanic uses only Toyota coolant in all cars he services. Some ppl may suggest various products, but one needs to be careful waht one uses. In my TS V6 I used only Mistsu coolant and neverhad a prob, sold car with over 300 000km and radiator was original and never worked on. Anyone have experience of the long-life G05 (Valvoline/Zerex/Monsanto/Glysantin)?

Mitsubishi only has one line of coolant which is used in every Mitsu vehicle.
They changed over to the premixed 5L containers to reduce warranty claims as people were mixing the coolant incorrectly.
$59 for 5 litres is pretty steep. Its made by Castrol so I don't think that it is anything special. You should be able to use an aftermarket coolant, just make sure you completely flush the entire cooling system.

yeah i just use an aftermarket coolant, its a concentrate that makes up to 13 litres, and is $29. the manual states that a mix should be 50% coolant concentrate / demineralised water. I know some people get caught out as alot of the cheaper premixes are only a corrosion inhibitor and not a anti freeze/antiboil. there is a prestone product that mixes with green or red coolant ie universal. as long as its an Ethylene-glycol based product.

I use the Nulon, get a 5 litre concentrate for around $39 bucks or there abouts HOWEVER will be fine with 2.5 litres and Nulon do make a 2.5 bottle

I second the Nulon. All their products are excellent. Be careful of GO5, I have read more than a few reports of it eating some aluminium engines. The Toyota coolant is very good but is also very intolerant of mixing with other coolants, so it's risky for in service brand changes of coolant.

I would not recommend switching from the Green type coolant to a Red type.
A chemical reaction occurs when the two mix, causing a jelly like substance to form and can destroy your cooling system, and was a GM techline report for the Commodores when they made the switch to long life coolant.

You are aware that ethylene glycol can be dyed either red or green? Nulon are a case in point.
Different TYPES of coolant should not be mixed, unless the label clearly states you can.
Changing from a red to a green ethylene glycol will have no ill effect.

"Guaranteed to suit every vehicle where red/orange OAT based coolant has been specified."
Says nothing about compatibility with both. Otherwise they'd just have the one product.

well the prestone product i mentioned is fine to mix with both red or green, and has a picture of the two mixing on the bottle, cant remember the exact name but definitely a prestone product in the yellow bottles.

Clearly you know everything as you are on tha internetz.
As I said, Nulon make a red and green ETHYLENE GLYCOL coolant which can be mixed. They also make the organic coolant you mention.

What was that saying about pots and kettles???????
The question was about what coolant to use, it has been answered
Nemesis is 100% right in relation to mixing different types and as he actually works for GM I would say that he has actually seen that tech sheet and is 100% spot on
Yes, dying can be done either way however most companies use the colour to identify what sort of coolant is being used, obviously what ever GM use do this as do most companies
