I just got a new car- 1998 TF
Ive noticed that there is a consistent shuddering that you can feel throughout the car whilst driving, It occurs when accelerating or just cruising. The speed also varies when the shuddering occurs.
ive had an alignment and balancing done
Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks in advance.

ahve u had the balancing done after we lowered it?
also could be cv joint.
also make sure your wheels are tight (remember tyson is a weakling and doesnt do em up tight)

Does the shudder frequency get faster as your road speed becomes faster? if So, it's related to road speed and not engine speed. If the Shudder is the same frequency doesn't matter how fast you're going, then it's Engine induced shudder.
To check your CV joints, while your car is stationary, Turn slowly from lock to lock, than turn quickly from lock to lock, Try to listen for clicking noises or nocking noises. if you get noises just by turning your wheel, and it's not just tire rubbing noise, then you may have a problem with either the Constant Velocity joint, the lower ball joint, steering knuckle, or strut.
I had a shudder before, it was between 100km/h to 120km/h. it turned out that it was my old shocks.

concern... yes... change both CV joints and while your at.. change the bearing as well... that will fix everything up.... if you have the funds, the you should be alrite.. if not.. better save up.. cos its not good for the car...

i had an alignment and balance after we lowered the car.
judging on the information ya's have given me, it does not seem to look like at being the CV joints as the problem.
i have got 18's on there now, seein as that is the case dave, i might have to tighten em again aye :doubt:
the shudders appear on any roads, at any speed (most frequent 40-80kmhr)

is breaking linear, by that i mean can you check to see if the rotors are warped.
How's your shocks? are they still stock or are they made for lowering?
it is starting to sound little like what i had.
How many Ks has the Shocks done?

the rotors dont seem to look warped.
I have lowered it but havent changed the shocks.
i am guessin the shocks havent been changed since the car was bought by the previous owner, so id say about 138,000 kms then :doubt:

What do you mean its not good for the car? Its not a real problem in terms of driving as it clicks once at speeds of like 5kmph. So i figure that im going to leave it, unless u can convince me otherwise.

This is my shudder i got..
At speeds around 40-80 when your coasting or gradually (slowly) increasing in speed the whole car shudders and the only way to ease it is to back off a bit.. and then hit the gass and continue on (back off meens let go of the Accelerator for a breif second)
I also have Clicks when stearing and i drive like a grandma.. and my wheels squeek when im coasting slowly....
geez im not stealing your post but eh maybe i should start up my own post for my own problems with my tf.
Im just used to always driving dodgy cars so im not sure if its unnatural or normal!

magna's are known for the outer joints wearing, especially if they have had a broken CV boot that has been fixed in the past.
Get these checked, any mechanic who knows his stuff should be able to check them out

thats the one!
Have you lowered it?
Coz the guys at mitsubishi took my car for a drive and the shuddering didnt occur and then they said its shuddering coz the car has been lowered- but how do they know that if they havent encountered the shuddering
they said that the driveshaft was out of place.....
Anyone know the deal?

Umm my car was.. Had.. NO HISTORY
had nice mags on it which i ditched to drop the price...
so i dunno...
My car is not lowered... it looks like a 4wd
and is auto.. sometimes it feels as if the gears cant get into fourth.. or its stuck between fourth and 3rd and the only way to fix it is to just let go off the acclerator and it either kicks down or goes up a gear.. cant remember... and reseting the ecu does nothing more but annoy me as i have to set the clock again!
