Has anyone taken a headlight apart to see how it adjusts

I have a headlight that will not adjust height or sideways
no matter how much I play with threaded adjusters

you need to pull it apart and replace the plastic adjusters inside as they crack when old

I can see the clips on the glass for that to come off

does the rest of the light fall apart when those clips and glass are removed?

also will the light go back togeather ok ?

yes the clips also hold the chrome lenses so just be careful if you have good spare lights use them if not pull those apart anyway either way you still need some parts out of other lights, once you have done em ounce its easy next time .

The glass is also glued on, so just removing the clips is not enough. I've tried in the past and never been able to separate the glass without breaking it.

Since we are on the subject, how do you rate the performance of your headlights? Mine are awful. On my TP wagon, they are so poor on low beam that they are downright dangerous. The TP sedan is only a little better. Even my first Magna, a TM sedan bought brand new in 1986 had poor headlights on low beam. On high beam, all of them are or were quite ok. However I just moved house and hired a Mitsubishi Canter to do the 400km move. The headlights on it were a revelation - better on low beam than any of my Magnas on high beam. High beam on the Canter was like driving in daylight.

Proper adjustment should help but I doubt whether it will be a total cure for mine.

My low beam used to be crap. Then I put some other headlights in and they improved greatly. I've never been in another car with better low beam.

unless someone has found a way
to remove or soften the glue holding on the lense

tried it on a stuffed headlight and no luck

the headlight glass cant be taken apart without it breaking or chipping

so fixing the adjusters is not possible

only solution is to get a headlight from a wrecker
and hope the headlight is already set correctly

Does anyone know about a a brighter bulb that fits the headlight ?

anyone tried putting them into the oven for 10 min, used to work with the glass lenses on plastic r32 skyline headlights
softens the glue then pry apart
