Hi.

Sorry to be asking for help on my first post.

My car (bought like two weeks ago) has gone through the following:

put in interior light
Battery flat next day (probably co incidence)
Battery faulty and rapidly loosing water via heating issues
Raa and auto electrician (Where I got the battery replaced) says the car is charging ok
Car alarm is now seemingly going off when it feels like it (with new battery. Though was doing it when faulty was flatish

I saw a similar thread to this. Any tips on checking the door switches?

My guess right Now is the boot hatch / locking bit is sticky (need to shut it real hard) or is the boot detecting bit seperate? Ideas for testing the boot idea?

Things I should check?

thank you for any help.

I'll check the fuses and also lock myself in, climb through the back seat and push up on the boot while armed (to see if it's the dicky latch thing. though I don't know if the sensor is separate from that? )

Instead of actuallly being inside the car, pushing the boot up, perhaps just locking it while outside and lifting the bootlid up from under the garnish area would be the same, but with muuuuuuuuuuuuch less effort.

hehe, yeah your right. Except going by the workshop manual, I may be able to visually inspect the switch at the top of the latch. I'll go check now (that you can see the switch. I'll save the setting my alarm off for diag purposes until after 9:30 AM)

So I've
- tested that all the doors set the alarm off ok
- lifting the boot or shaking the doors isn't setting off the alarm
- the boot switch looks 65% toward the off position when the boot is closed

It might also be a sticky door switch
Shaking the car will do nothing as the car doesnt have a shock sensor fitted

I've noticed the central locking when opening the doors from the drivers side doesn't open the passenger side doors.

I don't have a master key so we unplugged the boot key lock (left in button operation) to take out a varible.

post fiddiling with all this we haven't had a false alarm in the last 14 hours.

Did you try turning the key twice? On my TJ I have to push the button on the remote and/or turn the key twice to open all four dours. Once = driver door, twice = all doors.

Yeah your right two works.

after playing with all this (uncle unplugged boot lock wire and tried to make sure wiring in boot wasn't loose) it started up again (after not doing it for a few days).

I'm thinking about taking it to a Mitsubishi dealer. is it a long process of elimination @$105 an hour or can they log into the computer to see what lock or switch is setting it off (to narrow which wiring to check)?
