The material is coming away from the roof on my 97 Magna, Is there anything i can do to prevent it falling anymore? It's coming away above the driver's side and also a couple of "bubbles" in the rear.
Can i fix it my self? I want it fixed so it looks like nothing came away, is that possible?
I'm in WA.
Best bet is to replace the headliner mate, once it starts it doesn't stop.

crud.. Will it be expensive?
It cost me $50 for a KJ2 headliner with front dome and map lights from a wrecker. It's fairly easy to replace, just a matter of flexing it right to get in in the cabin.
You need need to remove to drop it:
- Sunvisors
- Dome Light
- Jesus Handles
- Door Rubbers (the ones that overlap the headliner, half-remove, they need to be pulled down far enough so they let go of the edge of the headliner)
Approx time to replace is about 20 mins, Peter_Pan and MitchellO helped me do mine in the carpark at a wreckers :P

I got mine from the wreckers. its horrible once it happens, did it to me on a 300km trip north, dropped right down 250km out from the detination, damn thing rested on my head the whole way. didnt want to rip it off as they let off a horrible orange dusty stuff, goes everywhere

Damn i was hoping i could glue it!!!
To have it professionally done would it be more than double?
I have no idea how i'd fix it lol :D
To have it professionally done you are looking at about $200ish installed.

Hi 97Altera, I did mine in a TF just a few months back. I pulled the entire lining out, that is the hard backing as well. There are clips along the rear section above the window, pain in the bum. Then I peeled the thin lining off and rubbed all that orange crap off by hand. Once I got the hard backing entirely clean I placed the new lining which was upolstery fabric bought from Spotlight and cut out the size roughly. Then I hit it in 8 inch strips with spray can adhesive and carefully applied the new lining. Trim off excess and cut out the screw holes etc. Then your away with a schmicko lining and your groovy hairdoo don't get messed up no more by that crap lining;)

ive seen people but staples/thumb tacks into their headliner to stop it coming down lol you could try that for a temporary fix

Ahh the ol' thumb tacks in the roof lining trick, adding class to VN Commodores since 1994!

Same thing happened on my old Sigma. I peeled mine off cleaned the shell and restuck new cloth on with contact adhesive. Worked a treat.

It's really not hard to DIY. I know practically nothing about anything and I still managed to pull it off, with a bit of flare as well. Balsa wood :mits: logo in it and retrimmed in red fabric.
Defo worth a shot.

Maybe one of you will do it for me *hints*...
Or that thumb tack idea is looking rather alluring haha
