View Full Version : TF horn not working - replacement time?

The horn on my TF keeps playing up. It sounds sick and dies, I wiggle the wires and it works again for a while, then dies again. Definitely not fuse related - they are intact. I clean out all the dust and crap from around the horn and it goes again.

Is this the sign that it's time to replace it, and I need to go find an Astra horn from the wrecker (or pinch the horn from my work colleagues Astra :ninja:?)

Regards, Tony

Might be time to replace it
The springs may be getting alittle worn if you use it often

just out of interest - why do you want an Astra horn on your car?

does it sound different / louder or something?

T.B.H,any thing will sound better than a Magna horn.....the Astra one probably sounds "europeanish..alah bmw, audi,"

but,as,i and several other members on here have done, is to go to your local wreckers and get the twin horn set up from any Ford EF on i think...the two horns have a high and low pitch, that sound really good...for a horn that is

or you get two of these 'twin' horn setups and hook em upp (4 horns) ...... hahahah ben can confirm that they are loud.

yes, do this if you want to scare the absolute piss out of anyone within a 100m radius... god damn those horns are loud, couldn't believe it...

and same with maggie, i had an old falcon horn in mine, magna horns suck!

every time i sound a magnas horn all i hear is "GAY" "GAY" instead of "BEEP" "BEEP"

What an excellent idea. I've never been a fan of the Magna horn experience. Sounds like something that belongs on a hairdressers car.
A pair of falcon horns it is. :)

....just make sure the two that you get have "H" and "L" on them, dont just grab any two,as they have to come off a futura ?? fairmont ?? or even the AU may have a twin set up...

replace... no doubt...

i had exactly the same problem with my horn in my tj.
it would sort of sound momentarily, then would sound like someone had wrapped a cloth around it and muffled it. not amount of fiddling would fix it, so i pissed it off and bought a new one from supercheap. :)
