Hey all,

Recently i have noticed a funny noise coming out of my exhaust, after a brief inspection i noticed that there is rust on the mid part and gas is leaking out (can feel it with my hand)

DRAWING: (to the best of my ability)

=(big muffler)===(joining bit)===(muffler bit)===(##RUST##)===(another muffler)=====(joining bit >> to engine)

(by 'another muffler' and 'muffler bit' i mean apart of the pipe that is thicker than others...not sure whats inside)

basically the 'front' section of a 'redback' exhaust system is needed.

I called up several places (northern sydney) and they all quoted about $300 installed, generic... however i might as well go slightly performance.

Does anyone know where i can find just lukey or redback system so i can replace myself? (i believe its a bolt on)

Or if anyones selling a vrx bit ...?

any other alternates or good cheap places to get it done?
(sorry for being a noob, I'm trying to explain it to the best i can with minimal knowledge)

Cant you get it shipped over and install yourself? or even buy the parts locally and install yourself?

from where though?

I heard theres this tape you just put over and it bakes itself on, good as new...will try soon.

that last bit your describing just before the engine, is the catalytic converter, its filled with a honeycombe structure lined with a catalyst metal, such as Platnium, it turns harmfull carbon monoxide into less harmfull carbon dioxide, as the metal encourages another carbon molecule to attach.

ok thanks for the science lesson, i have installed the polymer resin tape over the affected area and so far its holding pretty well, was only $10 :) saved me $$$$$$ (called exhaust bandage, a thermosetting polymer composite resin tape :P)
