hi guys. i just got a new muffler which had come of a wrx. it has a 3 1/2" tip but is fatter because its got a resonator sleeve. anyway i had a look at my current setup and im not sure its gonna fit, because when my car has had the towbar fitted it comes across the hole for the tip and the standard one has actually been bent down a little to fit in. has anyone else come across this problem and if so how was it fixed? without removing the towbar or altering the tip, what can i do? heres a pick of it. its huge!

Just angle the whole muffler down a bit at the back by changing the length of the rear muffler hanger - either the rubber or a bit of steel strapping

I'd remove the bar too.. they ruin the look of the vehicle :D

Most people with towbars find them fairly useful. I just keep the tongue off my wife's car, so we don't bump shins on it. The other option is to get a towing vehicle, and then take the towbar off, then you don't lose the functionality, but get the looks on your nice car. Pity we can't all afford to keep a different car for each day of the week!

MAGWGN,
Yeah, understand your problem, had a new exhaust fitted to my wagon (with towbar).
Got a nice Stainless tip fitted and noticed it hung down a bit - then saw the Tow-Bar bar which goes right across the exhaust opening. - Who designed that piece of smart engineering !

Take it to your local exhaust guys and let them take a look - much better than spending your valuable time.
