I'm gonna be installing an AEM IAT soon

Now where exactly in the intake track does this go? Does this get drilled and tapped into the lower manifold right before the fuel gets injected in, or does it go between the TB and air filter? (like standard in the MAF)
Just need to know so I can figure out what I gotta do to install it

Don't KH's onwards already have these in the intake somewhere? I'm sure they do but they are disabled but Steve Knight enables them when you have a tune done.

IAT sensors are integrated into the standard Mitsubishi MAF sensor, but I dont run a MAF..

As far as im aware they go in the TB or Intake.. I just fitted one to mine and it went into the Plenum.

I wouldn't think it would make too much difference where you put it.
It's not a forced induction application so the intake temperature shouldn't vary much through the inlet tract anyway. I'd put it wherever convenient. I'd tap and screw it into the intake plenum.

Thats what I was thinking, lower intake just before it enters the cylinders as the most accurate temp reading of the air going in.
if anyone else who is a bit more technically minded then me can give me a DEFINITIVE answer that'd be great but seems its not too big of a concern

Every car i've owned has had the IAT sensor before the TB
RAV4: Air filter > IAT sensor > TB
Verada: Air filter > MAF/IAT sensor > TB
SS: Air filter > MAF > IAT sensor > TB

Exactly. When air is moving through the intake system, it's moving so fast it's not gonna get that much more heated up in the inlet manifold than say in the pipework leading up to the TB.

I actually went and got a GM IAT (looks like a mini thermostat) But cant work out how to install the thing into solid aluminum...which is why I'll get the AEM one instead.
I'll probably put it in the lower intake anyway to keep wires down to a minimum around the engine bay.
have you got a picture of yours?

late model bmws 95> have theirs in the plenum as did EA-EL falcons

Anyone got a picture of these? (EA-EL?) Cause if they go into the plenium might work out WAY cheaper to just go ford and get one
