View Full Version : Blue Tooth Phone BEEP!!
When you switch off the engine, but you still have your mobile phone's bluetooth connection on, the speaker makes a rather annoying loud BEEP!
Besides remembering to switch off bluetooth on your phone BEFORE you switch the ignition off, does anyone know how to stop this noise? I always forget...
I have just had the front left speaker replaced under warranty and dont want to have to do it again.
Also, when you reset the Car phone Bluetooth by pressing both buttons, the voice that tells you that its clearing the memory is extremely LOUD!! Any ideas there? Thanks..

There must be a way to turn down the volume
Maybe check your manual to see what to do?

Thanks for reply.. No I checked the manual. You can control the volume of the person you are talking to by adjusting volume on your phone but not the volume of the blue tooth system itself (but i hope you can???)

mine doesnt have any of those problems...??
I just searched other threads. One other person has exactly the same problem. I dont see how it could be the phone itself.
Blackstar, when you reset the bluetooth, is the 'ladies voice' quite loud?

Mines pretty loud but I wouldn't say annoyingly loud.

Yep, that was me. In my case when the engine was turned off the phone would beep to let me know it was being disconnected but the beep is cut short with a scary 'THUD', which might be similar to your problem. I had it investigated a few dealers, and the correct diagnosis was that a fuse was incorrectly crimped. Well, that's what my servicing paperwork said. Not being a sparky, my best guess is that the improper fuse did not allow the speaker to correctly power down and may have even given it a surge. They also gave me a new bluetooth unit with a revised version, so that may have contributed to the fix as well.(I now have the parrot vm 3.20, as opposed to the original 3.18). It's actually part of a very long nightmare story with one of the dealers, but that's probably all you wanna know.
As a result of the "thud" being unrepaired for a few months my left speakers were torn up and sounded very very crappy, unbearable really. A year later after much debate over many other things with different dealers (I move around too much) I FINALLY got a warrant replacement on my speakers. Sounds good to me!
Hope this helps
BTW Mr, Roberto - unfortunately according to the manual the volume cannot be changed. It is rather too quiet on my N95 but irritatingly loud on my sister's nokia slide. Depends on the phone, and the vol can probably be adjusted there.

Thanks heaps n00B. I will take it up with the dealer and have them look at the fuse.

Do you know which fuse it was, where that fuse is located and what the correct fuse specs are?
Thanks n00B

My factory bluetooth (installed Jan 09) makes the same thud when you turn off the ignition,
Spoke to dealer a number of times but service manager believes as it operates ok it is not a problem.
Told me if it damaged the speaker it would be replaced under warranty. (4 years and 2 months to run!!)
Also spoke to the Australian parrott distributor (makers of the factory bluetooth unit). He stated if it was working (it is!!) it was fine.
Let me know if you find any specific information I can go back to him with.
Cheers

Thanks Mike. By n00B's comments previous page, it seems that he has fixed his Thud. Therefore that tells me that something is wrong.

Sorry, no can do. Here's what I got on the paperwork:
11MIZZZZZZ Electrical Body
We replaced bluetooth system on the 3/11/08 and now bluetoot (sic) doesn't work at all, aslo stereo speakers may have suffered damage from the original complaint of booming noise from blue tooth, refer r/o 349043
Due to wire on fuse not crimped correctly
Solder wires as required and test all ok
check operation of stereo speakers, all ok.
From this, you can guess that either the fuse issue was a fix for the blue tooth not working at all or the booming/thud issue. Check to see if your parrot version is newer or older than 3.20, if it is older then that may be part of the problem.
If you need more info, get your dealer to contact the dealer that I used then - Pickerings @ Townsville. The man who dealt with this issue was Tim Vinson. He should be able to remember that black 380 which kept coming back for issue fixes. He had to replace not just my bluetooth, but the console and dash as well due to incompetent tradies scratching everything, especially the leather!

Thank you. That is very helpful. Will take your advice. With the dash being replaced, have you had any rattles or vibrations in the dash?

Isn't this for the Aftermarket bluetooth? What is better factory or aftermarket one.

Oh, I didn't read that far (have maxed out my ISP and everything too slow (til tomorrow)).
I have the factory fitted one, but others here have done their own without problems.

No problems when they replaced it, though I now have a harmonic frequency (vibrations which are quite noticeable) occurring at uphills 60km/h due to a brisbanite rear ending me. Don't really mind it as the frequency is very specific, just have to lower/increase my revs to get out of the situation.
If you're wondering why on earth a rear-ender would affect the front, well it's because the rear side panel goes all the way to the front and had to be replaced. Naturally, when they removed it the installation was not as perfect as if it walked right out of the factory.
