I want to get a set of Bob Janes RJR wheels. Either the 'Phantom' or 'Shadow; models. I'm thinking the 16" size would look good, with a set of 205/60 R16 tyres on it. They would only be 5mm taller than the original 205/65 R15, so the gearing won't be messed up seeing as I only got an Advance with the highly geared 4sp.

The offset is +38 and the width is 7", is this going to cause any problems, ie pulling the steering wheel even more when giving it some? Will they fit under the gaurds? Does anyone know the offset of the original 6" wide 15" steel rims?

Anyone actually got these wheels on their magna? How much more do they weigh then standard rims?

all i can say is dont get shadow chrome.... the coating only lasted about 12mts before it started peeling the clear coat now they are down to black. and it just keeps getting bigger.

other than that ive hit some pretty bad pot holes and no buckles. mine are 17's

16"? Ehhh... Minimum I'd get would be 17, 16's just look too small.

Since the width of the tyre will be about the same, the pull on the steering wheel (torque steer) will be about the same.
I reckon the stock rims would be lighter than these Bob Jane ones, so acceleration might be slower, which might make the torque steer actually a little less too.
If it's any help, I've weight up my old 17" K-Speed Vertigo rims with a 215/50/17 tyre (17mm smaller diameter than Magna) and they're about 19.6kg.

I'm sure you could search for the factory offset on the forums, I bet it's been written here 20+ times, just finding it amongst the 2,000,000 posts could be fun :D I have an AWD with +46 but mine could well be different. Don't forget though, the width of the rim effects the wheel track if you keep the offset the same, so it's worth doing your maths to make sure it's still legal.

(as an aside re: Lucifer's post: 16" RJR rims are probably cheaper than 17", and the tyres too. Personally I wouldn't shell out good cash for an alloy wheel in the same size as factory Magna rims. I'd get the stockies from a later model which are 16" like my 03 TJ II or better yet later ones even had 17" wheels. - My 16" with 205/60/16 tyres just have too much tyre roll so I'd be going 17" minimum, maybe 18" if price isn't too bad)

I think I'll take Oggy's advice and look for a later set of factory alloys. Some of the ones they put on the 380s are quite decent looking. Anyone know of anything for sale, or where to look?

They crop up here and on ebay from time to time.

You should also get 215/60R16s regardless as that's OE for 16" shod 3rd gens.

But then the speedo will be messed up a bit.
