96 ts magna wagon,
when braking the steering wheel shudders.
its not too bad but does anyone know how to fix it?

Front discs need machining, should solve your problem.

Yep sounds like your rotors are warped. Need machining or get a new set of ebay. Last time i checked they were around the $100 mark with a set of pads.

if changing/machining the front discs doesnt change it, check that one of the calipers arent seized.
EDIT; OP the 2nd gen magna came with 4 wheel disc brakes, so no drums or shoes. Also, ebay brake pads are cheap horrible lumps, spend the little bit extra and get a decent set of pads. dont forget, your brakes are what come between you and the car careening through an intersection into the path of a truck.

Just confirming this was 100% the case in my TS Wagon.. in my case was mainly when braking from over 100Ks.. but once i changed i realised how much better the slower speed brakign was too.. i got new discs because they were something like $50 each versus basically that much to have them machined and I had no idea how old they are or what.. and personally I use bendix pads.
No idea if better rates can be had for machining. probably.

I had a pair of rear rotors machined for my TJ for $50, if that helps. That's for removing the rotors myself and taking them in.
I know of a backyard mechanic in Adelaide that will machine a brake disc for $15 if its still thick enough.

My bush mechanic machines them for $10 a disk lol. Can anyone beat that?

Dont think so, bloody hell thats cheap! mine get done for $20 a disk
I was tempted to get rid of the lip with an angle grinder for free but on closer inspection it looked more grooved than it actually was so i put in new pads and left it :P

Free when I do them myself.

You should put a champfered edge on the pads when replacing pads without changing\machining the rotors as it helps to eliminate squealing.
The ones that i got were already chamfered, and on the edges lengthways it was quite a bit, to the point it looked like only half the overall pad size in the middle was touching. Im thinking of upgrading my brakes eventually anyway, just to have red calipers... But also thinking of a 2nd gen verada and go from there instead of slowly turning a TR into a verada.
