Anyone read this article yet? (Sigh) Their final comments on the performance defecit/potential of this car speaks volumes about how mitsubishi has not fully exploited this vehicle. :doubt: Its all half measures and too little too late as in this case or adequate but over-priced as in the case of the Ralliart.
At this stage of the TE-TL game, methinks Mitsubishi should have taken a leaf out of Fords' book...beef up the range; dump the Ralliart engine in the AWD/VR-X/VR models at least. Oh , and cover up them lights!!!!!
What do you think lads?
I say. Here's an idea. How 'bout Mitsuman starts a new business producing and selling hotted up Magns. He is a man with no fear . Just the sort needed down Adelaide way

yeah i had a read of this, i even posted that final quote in the General section.... the whole article is VERY positive, with the only real problems was the straight line performance (after take off) and the fact that the car is still basically 8 years old (look at the Commodore!! thats still the EXACT running gear out of the VT(+GENIII)... which is 7 years old now anyway)
mitsubishi suffers from an image problem.
the magna was doomed to failure after the 1st gens... such a poor 1st model was never going to help, the 2nd gens were a slight improvement and fairly advanced for their age, it just took them 10 years to get it right, and then they only sell sedans and wagons... every other model provides utes and LWB aswell...
Australians want fast cars... the only Mitsu that has ever done really well is the Lancer EVO, but has always cost almost twice a WRX that is almost the same car.... but aussies apparently dont want turbo awd's!?!?
mitsu took on the cardigan image very early and it stuck... pity though...

I still think that one of Mitsubishi's biggest mistakes was to ditch the GSR. In 1996 I was tossing up between a WRX and GSR (both were relatively unknown back then - the WRX certainly didn't have anywhere near the cult following it developed in later years).
To me, the WRX was an over priced, ill mannered (although very fast) dog while the GSR was a sweet little toy that revelled in being chucked around. Reminded me of the Datto 1600's I used to belt around in.
Of course, Mitsu dropped the GSR, and within 12 months, the WRX became Australia's hero car, with nothing to compete with in in performance or cost. This car single handedly put Subaru on the map, while MMAL just went out and bought a new cardigan.
I've read that exact same quote somewhere before, but it's still valid even today.

yeah, they need a power up fast!!!
this quote i like though...
All that’s lacking is the neck-snapping throttle response of the manual front-wheel-drive. love that nexk snapping ability!!

You cant expect mitsu to bring out a fully developed engine only 2or3 years after its released, then they couldn't improve it for next generation chassis. just like the commodore 3.8, there was nothing stopping GM from putting sequential injec., vvti, ect ect... in the VN. but then they would have nothing to improve on for the next model.
what i fear is that mitsu doesn't know how to further improve there engine without sacaraficing reliability for further models...

This is something i have always thought bout.
When holden was dominating the V8's on the track they were selling like hot cakes, now that ford has come back with a vengence they have caught up in sales (as far as i know)
But if Mitsi put a Magna in the V8's (obviously a fair amount of mods would need to be made) which i think has been talked about, aswell as possibly Nissan and and toyota joining in .... anyways i was thinknig if that did happen in the V8's and the Magna proved to be competitive im sure ppl would but them.
Cos something ive noticed bout Australia is that we tend to only buy what car is winning in the V8's (to a certain extent obviously)

yeah, i reckon there should be an aussie car class!!! (there is in rally, and i like rally better anyway!! not one of the drivers is a dickhead, don't get me started on V8supercar drivers!!)
I think all we gotta do is show more support to rally, not the supercar franchise!! that will drag more people to it (which means more money) which will lead to better advertising and promotion etc!!!
I reckon mitsubishi should make an ad (and i want royalties if they do!!), starting with V8supercars tearing around bathurst..... then go to a voice over saying "THINK THEY'RE TOUGH? I RECKON (thats the token aussie slang bit) THEY SHOULD TRY THIS!" and then show a magna flying around rally roads, jumping, sliding, water spashes etcetera and then on the podium fading to a screen with "Mitsubishi Magna V6 - Rally champion!" - hell i'm sure i can find some footage, might mix it with some 'premiere' tonight!

I happen to love the V8's ......... and i think the fact that its ford vs holden has really helped that ............. since the format was made of just holden and ford the seriies has taken off!
but i do think there is enough room for ONE more manufacturer .... as ppl like us neither go for ford or holden.
I think the magna is probably the most deserving car to be the 3rd car of the series cos
1) Aussie Made.. the magna is just as australian as the falcon or commodore in my oppinion
2) been around since bout 1987? ish
3) Anything is better than a skyline (lol) which i heard may be a possibly car to be in the series
4)it will bring more ppl into the series as not everyone is ford or holden!...
i guarantee if a magna goes in the series they will sell like hot cakes!!!! well compared to what they are now anyways ... al we need now is a V8rwd

i do (well did) too, but every week it goes by i get more detached from it! it is possibly the best track series in the world IMO in terms of track variation, competitors, and power! But i did also enjoy it back in the late 80's-early 90's were there were more production based cars, although this brought around the fact that the races tended to be won by the best car, not neccesarily the best driver (aka skyline, although JR is a hell driver too!). For me, the Rally and the Australian GT Performance Championship provide better value!!
i guarantee if a magna goes in the series they will sell like hot cakes!!!! well compared to what they are now anyways ... all we need now is a V8rwd yeah, i reckon the 5.7 Hemi8 from the chrysler 300C (it fits the same spec as the current V8 supercars, nearly) and it wouldnt be hard to fit a RWD into the AWD platform/shell! (not as hard as the old FWD shell!!)
