Just a random thought I came up with...

As some of you may know, for the immobilizer our car keys have an RFID built-in to them, what I am wondering is - Is it possible to interface with this and enable such features as keyless boot entry (RFID style where the key is hovered over the lock and it pops) for example. Would a normal RFID scanner pick up the key?

IF it could be queried, another cool use would be garage access, you could replace your garage door lock with an RFID lock and just touch your car key to it to open it!

That's a pretty sweet idea. RFID scanners can be had for pretty cheap on eBay I think. With the boot open, you'd just need the RFID reader to close the circuit for an instant once it detects the card. It'd be an easy job if you can indeed interface with it.

jay car as cheap RFID readers, but you will need to find a programable reader, that can be programed to read the keys particular frequency, i was going to add a kill switch to my car using a RFID FOB and reader, with the reader hidden behind some interiour panneling

garage door idea is retarded, if car is locked but want to open the garage door which are both within range, then they are going to be out-of-sync

Nice thought, but instead of using the Key, just carry a passive (pre-programmed) RFID tag and keep it in your wallet or attach it as a key chain on your keys and applies the same principle.
