Hi,
My anti lock light stays on.
Just wondering what sort of check I could do to see what the actual problem was.
I was going to do a brake test to see if ABS actually works, but thought I should get some good advice before I do that.
Also, what sensors do I need to clean before I think about taking it in to get fixed?
I have done a search, but not found to much helpful stuff.
It is brakes, so I know I should get this done asap.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

The first thing I would be doing is checking the fluid levels in the reserviors.

Another thing to check is the tone wheel sensors - these get covered in muck sometimes. They're just at the back of the brake rotor facing a disc with lots of little slots on it. They should just unscrew or unbolt and then you can clean them up.
The first thing I would be doing is checking the fluid levels in the reserviors.
Low fluid level would illuminate the handbrake light I think, from experience lol. Obviously it wouldn't hurt to check the levels anyway.
My money is on the ABS sensors as has been mentioned to check first.

Hmmm, hand brake light came on last week, doesn't stay on, but is on intermittently even tho hand brake is off.
Will check fluid and sensors asap.

Check threads ive craeted, there is one on ABS somewhere which should be useful, went through a long process of troubleshooting and got it working eventually. it was one dud sensor and another was misaligned after I cleaned it

Check your fuses, Mine did that and turned out to be as simple as one blown fuse.

Cool,
Lots of nice advice, all looks pretty cheap so far too, fuse, fluid, clean sensors etc.
Will check all of these.
It's a TE exec, do these come standard with ABS?

I also had a problem with the anti lock signal coming up intermittently, sometimes straight away and staying on or sometimes coming on after 20 mins or less of driving. Also affected the cruise controll on my car, machanics cleaned the sensors to start with and it dissapeared for a day but it turned out to be a faulty brake switch. Replaced it with a new one, haven't had the problem since. Hope it helps

sounds like wheel sensors to me. if you take it to a mechanic they can tell you which wheel it is using the MUT.
