Ok I've done a search here re Ultima shocks/struts and there isn't much and what there is isn't very recent.

Does anyone have anymore info to add about these units?
I'm thinking about replacing the struts on my TL awd as the KYB's I have on it now have around 100,000k on them and they feel like they are getting a bit tired. I'm also running Kings lows al round.
Now I know lots of members here recommend the KYB's, but I have been very underimpressed with these since I fitted them. I fitted them at around 50,000k (2&1/2 years ago) and I could not tell the difference between them and the OEM (Mounroe?) ones I replaced. I don't know specifically what they are as in model/part number. I bought them from Philcom. (Not complaining about him, his service was great :facejump:) I'd like to get a bit better damping than oem.
I don't really want to go to the expence of Koni.
thanks in advance

Have you considered Boges? There has been a recent shift towards this brand lately amongst the AMC community.

Boge are meant to be a step-up from the KYB Excel-G shocks. Saying that, I couldn't be happier with the KYB's. They certainly do exactly what they say on the tin.

Yeah I have used ultima before on the TF they were pretty good, I believe they are made as a budget level shock by Tein suspension.

I used to work as a mechanic at Selby Suspension on the Central Coast NSW were we sold Ultima shock and they are actually direct copies of Monroe but manufactured in China..

Actually, The company that makes the Ultima shock makes the Monroes, they just stamp Monroe on them.
Monroe went to **** when Tenneco bought them up and all this started happening. I wouldn't buy Monroes in a pink fit any more, seen too many failures and frankly their damping is weak.

Regards, Andrew.

Fair enough, What would you recommend?
