well the old motor began to smoke and leak oil (a ltr a week ..ouch)

so in goes a better s/hand engine

and serviced the auto

found lots of faults on the car so will take time to fix the rest

the motor going in has had the balance shafts removed
rocker roller cam gear of a TR 4 cyl and head done up

had the motor and gearbox out in 4 hours with difficulties

some very tight bolts

about 24 hours later and the job is done

Thank you "old fart" I know that new block owes you a fair bit

We are ok for now

the wagon needs work on its suspension
while it was up in the air
did two steering rack boots
a CV boot

not bad for a car thats done 222000 ks
everything else works

seems the motor was to strong for the aging Auto

didnt go into failsafe mode so not the TCU

lost torque converter and oil pressure on a hill
had to get a tow home
how embarrasing

now I need to fix the Auto

I love autos too much

got the box out in 2 hours in 35 degree heat

pulled the auto apart and found no damage

has to be the torque converter for sure

I have two s/hand ones to try

well after fitting and removeing
3 trannys and three different torque converters

the wagon is back on the road

she isnt perfect but a bit more fine tuning and it should right

they are easy to fix
really ... brissy has lots of hills, traffic and stop signs.
also towing with an auto is much easier
