Hi guys..........I got myself a 93 magna SE...........the 2.6 litre sohc motor. I got the car for just a run around untill I get my other car done, but now I've already started working on it............heheh couldnt help it.....

Need some help:
firstly the roof lining is falling off...............do u guys know how can i get this sorted out....?

Seccondly I installed a cheapo sound system in it using a 10 inch alpine sub and 12 inch sony sub and a few pioneer speakers............I couldnt install the 4 inch speaker on the dash cos the magnet of my speaker was bigger..........I need to install the other 6" on the door...........how do i go about doing this............do u guys get door pods........could i have a few pictures of u guys who's done this.

Anyway this site seems to have a few good magna.s around..........once i finish my other car i would surely play around with this a bit.............

my other car is a vl commodore with an aero kit............with twin cam 3.0 turbo motor........being built now.

thanx for ur help in advance

dood!!!

i installed 6'' speakers in my front doors... n f**ked off the 4's in the dash!!! they r **** n have a lot of trouble fittin new ones coz of the weired shaped braket!!! anyway... i aint got no pics at the moment... but will soon!!!

first make sure there are speaker holes in the actual doors... to do this i took the door pannels off and on mine there are speaker wholes (on the KR) they'e prolly just a lil smaller the 6''... (i needed a speaker spacer which i made myself, ill get to that) yer so i took the door trims right off... i got power windows so it wasnt too much of a hassel just had to disconnect all the connections... but just make sure u get all the screws n **** out... coz the trims bend n snap/crak easy so b careful!!!

then i got rid of those gay pockets (or sleves) on the doors... they r screwed in from the back so its just a matter of taken out the screws and a few retainers... then cut away the plastic lining on the door and measured up the dimensions and measurments of the speaker hole and traced it onto the back of the door pannel!!! u gotta make sure u dont have it to low or the door wont shut!!

drilled a whole in the door pannel and carefully used a 'jig-saw' & stanley knife (blade) to cut out the hole in the door trim... made sure the speaker fitted n it was all sweet...

this it where i came to a little greef... the 6'' pioneer i got had a reasonably large magnet on it n was fairly long (depth wise) so it wouldnt sink all the way into the door... so i went n bought a sheet of MDF n made myself a set of 6'' spacers... these just give the speaker a few cm's spacing from the door... bought some speaker carpet from jaycar n clued it to the spacer... screwed the spacer to the door trim and then the speaker to the spacer!!! :D

ran the cables with the rest of the wires (for windows n mirrors) in the rubber cable 'sock' goin between the door n the body of the car... ran em behind the dash n to the deck!!! that simple!!!

looks really good aye!!! i got a red 'theme' with my car (red neons, red interior lights etc) so i got speakers with a red cone... looks really good aye... will have pics soon!!!!

need more detailed info PM me!!!

dood, just do what i did, i had a set of clarion splits, the 6 inch mini woofers went in the doors (replaced existin dooe speakers) but i guess urs doesnt have that, so go to a car audo place and get urself some door speaker pods. For the dash i custom made a tweeter holder out of masinite.... I took out the old speakers and traced the outside of them over masonite, then cut it out.. then i traced the diameter of the tweeter so it fits in place, then i painted mine silver, then i placed the tweeter in,, screwed the B@ST@RD in and wired it all up, as for the crossover just mount under the dash or in the doors. It sounded awesome.. oh the good ol dayz

The roof lining is a common problem. You can put a couple suttle greyed screws in. The clips come un glued from the roof lining.

re dropped hoodlining !!!

this is a common problem in 1990's model magnas, falcons, commodores and any other aussie built car with a bonded cardboard hoodlining (rooflining). The boards are covered in a fabric with a foam backing this is glued to the cardboard. Over time the foam perishes and breaks away from the glue. To repair these linings DO NOT try to reglue it yourself. You will only wind up with a messy hoodlining and stuffing the board and it then can't be repaired properly.
I turn over my cars regularly as i do hi km's and i often buy cheapies with dropped hoodlinings. to fix them i take the hoodlining to my local motor trimmers and have him replace the fabric with a new piece and glue it properly. if i remove the lining myself he charges me $100 for sedans and $120 for wagons, add $80 for remove and replace labour. (trimmers prices vary dramatically shop around, under motor trimmers in the yellow pages)
If you are into DIY, Wagon hoodlinings are easier to remove and replace as they can be pulled in and out thru the tailgate. sedans are tricky you have to get the lhf seat in the right spot and carefully "extract" the hoodlining thru the lhr door without bending it too far and creasing the board. NOTE: once u have the hoodlining out u will need a ute with a tarp or a van to transport it

Yep the RB25 head fits the RB30 block.. but it ain't that easy. There's lots of little gotchas.

Thanks for the info on the headliners.
