hey guys
just wondering what kind of economy u get with your 2nd gens.
my 96 TS wagon 2.6 EFI manual gets around 240km on half a tank using permium (aprox 500 on a full tank)
with a mix of city and highway driving.
is this around normal or is something wrong ?
thanks :)
bout the same as my tr wagon when i use premium. i run lpg most of the time as car is dual fuel. but do run on premium once a month

its the displacement not cylinders that count, hence why the 2.6 astron uses same/similar fuel /100km to the 3L 6g
In fact per cylinder, the smaller the displacement (499cc for the 6g and 649cc for the astron) the less fuel/ better economy you can achieve dependant on tune. Stock tunes though, you see about the same for each motor

About 450km's per tank of MAINLY city driving. not bad :D
I think the Astrons mainly seem to drink a lot because people haven't take care of them.
Our TR which is a 2.6 efi doesn't usually do more than 100km per week, but on the odd occasion it actually is filled and then run to near empty, it returns about 550km which works out to about 10L/100km, when I've done the calculations its been on a mix of local driving and freeway, probably about 50/50. No one here thrashes the TR by any means though, it'd be lucky to see the pedal hit the floor more than once every couple of months, and that's just to wind it up every now and then for the sake of thinking its good for it every once in a blue moon.

Mine just got fully rebuilt and i still only get around 350-380 for a full tank on Mobil Syn8000. i generally sit on the limit and dont thrash it.
Astrons are a pretty thirsty car from what I can gather

that sounds a bit weird liam.
mine was also fully rebuilt rebored 60 over with ported head and it still did close to 500km/52L of Mobil 8000. I do mostly city driving with the occasional stint on the highway and while i didnt ever thrash my car, i'd hold the gears for a bit longer than a normal person would what with being a manual n stuff.
fuel economy improved after the manual conversion, then once again when my valves were all reseated and the head was ported.

since the rebuild my driving has been, to the shops, to a mates, to tafe, to TAB etc etc
i might give it a long drive and see how we go!

my 2.6 auto wagon has always been relatively good on fuel (through all three engines:P) get between 300 and 320 for the indicated first half tank, usually 540-570 if i run it till the light comes on

This old chestnut again... a pet peeve is how everyone says "on a tank"; HOW MUCH IS A BLOODY TANK PEOPLE??!! Seriously, if you are going to be doing statistics on something, get HARD FIGURES!!
</rant>
My usual refill for my V6 manual wagon is 45litres almost every time, and economy can range anywhere from 350km to 550km for that level of fill. Just did a trip from Brissy to Coffs and then on to Port Mac, pretty-much pure highway and freeway, with some roadworks thrown in, got about 490km off 45l both directions.
Theoretically there is 72l in a wagon tank, so if I was to say "on a tank", I could extrapolate those figures to be around 780km... but there's no way in hell you are ever going to use every litre in your tank.
Also, as an example of the vagaries of fuel guages, I can get anywhere from between 75 and 150km after a fill before the guage hits "full"!

I get 12.9L/100K average.. it's a bit craptastic (it spiked up to 15L/100K before I fixed my fuel regulator and a couple other bits;) .. city driving, with some longer higher speed runs at 80-100.. I don't hammer it.. I usually fill up 50-55L to roughly 400-450Ks. 4cyl auto ts wagon.
Among other things, exhaust needs doing (rusting, already fixed a few holes :P) .. which might help.

I get precisely 10L/100kms on my TR astron 2.6 efi sedan doing hway driving. Between 13-15L/100km city driving depending on how hard I gun the engine which from what I've heard and read is pretty average for my lil 4cyl.

In my old one (which i used to drive quite hard) I usually got about 450 out of a tank, used to do a fair amount of short trips in it though.

i get 10.5L/100km on a 3L V6 KR Verada. (probably 60/40 split between highway and city driving).
premium versus regular unleaded doesn't seem to make a difference, but ethanol petrol seemed to go faster (although i didnt measure it)

In my Kr Verada i seem to get about 260km on half a tank doing a mix of city and highway driving. But one time i tried to see how far it would go, and it did 290km on 24L of fuel before the light came on! Was doing about 85k on the highway to pull that one off.
