The trim or garnish or mould or what ever you call it around the rear windscreen on my 2001 Magna sedan is looking shite, like chunks of paint have flaked off nearly all the way around.
Question is, to remove it does it just pull out? How much are we looking at to get a new one? Is Mitsubishi the best place get a new one?
Thanks for your help!

Mines doing the same thing, I'm just going to paint mine black once it all peels off.

It is glued to the glass and to replace you need to replace the whole screen
You should be able to tidy it up and give it a coat of black to make it look ok

Yeah it's glued down....
There is a spray rubber coating you can buy called " Plasti Dip "
It's a spray that you use just like normal paint but you get a beautiful rubber coating that looks like the OEM finish.
Do a google on it... not many places stock it though and it's about 20-30 bucks a can.....

Apart from Plasti-Dip, are there any recommended paints/application methods? Mine's flaking like crazy.

I had a look on their website, turns out they sell it direct on eBay (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1156307&postcount=1893).
Going through the items listed though, I see one of the products is listed as having a 'UV specific formula'... perhaps that'd be a better product to use on an exposed rubber like the window seal?

Great answers, thanks for the info, and it's good to know my Magna isn't the only one with the problem. I didn't take the glass replacement option with my insurance so a quick hammer to the screen and replacement claim is out....:ninja:
I really was hoping to just replace it so it would look factory and not too home job because I'm not the worlds best painter, but I'll have a crack at it. I'm sure one of my tradie mates must have some plasti dip.

a tip, mine started to fade and a armourall protectant brought it up like new and has lasted over a couple of washes. works well on the plastic leaf guard under windscreen.

On mine (and presumably others), it's actually flaked off. My trim protector brings up the rest of it fine - and makes a HUGE difference on the windscreen leaf guard - but it doesn't do anything for the parts that have flaked off.
