I found this while looking to help out Lucifer with tuning a Toyota. Found it interesting.

have you looked into changing the 4 hole injectors to somthing a little more modern? (99% sure last time i pulled one down they had 4 hole's)

i did this in my 3.5 v6 mitsubishi (diamantae you call them over there), 4 hole units, in favour of the newer 3.8L v6 12 hole versions, same cc, same impedence, but helped particularly part throttle/curise economy..

were the later version 5sfe injectors any better? we had the 5sfe here untill about 02' in camry's.. i don't know wheather or not they had revised any versions of them..

Did these injectors come from a pajero, I understand the theory of a finer fuel mist. Can someone shed some more light here??

actually 380s run them.

direct replacement I think from 380. AFAIK Alan or some techy guy did the mod but there was no noticable difference to drivability. Maybe fuel economy slight improvement. You are better off doing a search that trusting me lol

I had them (380 injectors) in my donkey engine and there no noticable difference to drivability, economy etc. The new larger injectors currently in the donkey engine are also 12 hole units but with more "CC" over the mitsubishi 380 units.

the term is pintle, and its to do with atomisation. The more pintles apparently the better it is for fuel mixtures, but at some point its like trying to pee into the wind. ABout the biggest 4 pintle injectors you can get (pintle is the term) is around 800cc After this they drop back to 2 pintle usually. This info is based off a few years ago, when i want into the import scene and had plenty to do with this kinda stuff. Bosch make a twin pintle 1600cc injector, but there 4 pintles used to top out at 660cc* again touch sketchy due to time out of the scene

Yes Graham fitted a set from the 380 engine he bought. He says there was very little difference in fuel economy. Maybe just a few % better but not much in it. Engine felt very good and responsive, but then it did when using stock injectors too. That could be due to Graham's head mods using small high velocity inlet ports doing a good job of atomising and homogenising the air/fuel mix so well with the stock 4 hole injectors that going 12 hole made little difference. Much like going to a 50,000 volt ignition system when there isn't any trace of misfire with 20,000 volts. There won't be a performance gain.

I was meaning to ask him if there was an improvent in 80-120 acceleration times.

Cheers,
Alan

what kind of injectors are in the 3.5 dohc pajero motors? And would they be a direct swap into my 6g72? Thanks
