Hey, i'm trying to change the cam o ring seal on my TJ magna and was just wondering if someone could give me some tips on removing the water housing.
I've loosened the two bolts that connect the pipe to the front bank but can't really see where the other ones are, is there just another two holding it on to the rear bank?
Thanks

if thats where the thermostat lives, then there is a third bolt, have a feel with your hand underneath, once thats off use a screwdriver carfully to pry it off. and have a bucket ready under the car as it will spil a bit of coolent

Ok this is giving me the shits now. Who ever designed this....:zap:
I think there is only one bolt left (the one in the middle of the pic)
but i can get access to it and seems like the distrbutor is blocking it from coming out?

don't worry, managed to move the housing away enough to get the bolt out of the cam plate and change the o ring.

Glad you got it done. :)

For reference, two bolts front head, two bolts rear head. Yes, you need to remove the distributor.
If the front cam blanking plate o-ring has perished then the distributor o-ring will need replacing too.

Part numbers,

MD319851; Gasket, thermostat housing. $13.40 ea, you need two.
MD147332; O-ring, thermostat housing to valley coolant pipe $11.25.
MD030736; O-ring, thermostat housing to heater pipe $8.00.
MN176208; O-ring, front cam blanking plate $4.40
MD619990; O-ring, distributor $7.90

Cool, thanks for that. Theres no way i'll be changing the water housing gaskets as i couldnt even get it off. How necessary do you think the distributor o ring is?

My dizzy o-ring had gone just as hard as the one in the front cam blanking plate. That said whilst the front seal was leaking the dizzy one wasn't - yet. Wouldn't of been far off though.
I did a cam swap so my dizzy had to come out anyway. Yes, I'd change it, only two nuts to remove it.
