As some of you may know i've got some guages in my car and since one being an oil pressure guage I had to add on a sensor with the factory one
Now it's was all good until I noticed it had started to leak oil again, I used the same stuff I used last time to seal the threads but this time it has only slowed the leak down
I cant remember what the stuff was called at the top of my head but will get the name of the product used
So I was wondering if anyone knew a good thread sealent that goes on AFTER assembly? As it is very hard to get into to loosen off said bits
It will have to be some suitable for metal, high temp and pressure
So if anyone knows anything good for this let me know

Thanks

Loctite?

Though to reseal timing case bolts on the VE Alloytecs at work we use Threebond 1207C

Awesome, thanks mate will look into it
Do you know where you can buy it from?

Also the stuff I used was Permatex high performance thread sealant
Only problem is that it takes 24hours to cure which is hard as I need the car everyday

Bursons should stock Threebond if you have them in your area.

2 issues or perhaps 3

1 in order for a thread sealant to work it needs to be applied while part is off the car
2 if using above sealant, you may find some items do not work as they rely on an earth through the thread thus why they are tapered threads
3 if you over tighten you may have split the oil filter holder (this has been an issue here for a member in the past) as it is thin and soft

Hmmm, I am the member you are refering to about the oil filter holder
The thread isnt all the way into the holder, when I installed it I screwed it in until it started to get tight then turned it alittle more after that
Threads just over half way in
The stuff I used this time was the same as what I used last time and it worked well last time, But i've got the feeling im gonna have to strip it all and redo it to make sure it seals properly
When I applied the sealer it has slowed the leak down abit, but because it drys in 4 hours and has a cure time of 24hours, its hard for me as I use the car everyday
I'm thinking if I can try and seal it up alittle better then it can wait until im on holidays to fix it properly, i'll be changing the oil and oil filter tomorrow

One turn of stretched Teflon tape will seal most threads subjected to pressure and heat, and as the thread cuts through the tape it will still provide an earth if needed.

Rob, ill get you a roll of GAS SEAL TAPE that might do the trick.... just liek thread tape but a little thicker and stronger. Also, go to A1 Performance in Myaree for all your sealant needs, they near the backside of Toyota...
