View Full Version : Rear Suspension Cracks

Had a bit of clanking from the rear - on inspection found that the swaybar had rotated so that the link rods where hanging down with the swaybar ends at the bottom rather than above the frame mount.

While under the car noticed that near the left and right D-bush mounts for the swaybar the frame was cracked. Seems that the frame is a bit weak at this point as it isn't too hard to make it flex.

Before I get it welded up was wondering if this is a known problem or if there is any aftermarket item to beef up the frame near the D-bush mounts. Anyone into motorsports must have come across this issue I guess.

Running a whiteline bar on hardest setting with standard 04 Verada AWD shocks/springs.

cheers

I'll load them up when I can work out how.

If it's anything like the press bent subframe on the FWD (with factory swaybar version) then just beef it up. I welded some plate over the mounts on mine to stiffen them up, has worked a treat. I also made up new mounts for the swaybar to the lower arms as I broke one of those off as well...the links seem to be the only part that lasted with the heavier bar and some track work.

Definitely a different design but similar issue, looks like you may be able to reinforce it with a bit of plate bent up and welded on. How hard is the AWD subframe to drop out?
