is there a Steering Wheel for a third gen that has buttons on it, i.e Cruise control radio etc, that doesn't have an air bag?
I wanted to connect the buttons to my carpc.
I had a look, but couldn't find anything.
Also, I am bored at work!

You can detach the switch from a cruise control + airbag wheel and put it on a non airbag wheel. Mounting points are the same.

Cool, sounds like what I need.
Would you know what model that is? Might put up a WTB thread. Then again, I could just go look at the wreckers...
Thanx for the heads up.

I considered this, even managed to get hold of a Verada steering wheel audio control unit (that attaches below the airbag), the problem is how to wire it up since the wheel spins.

just make sure you have plenty of wire in the column that it can pull on... and you should be okay, if not, get a verada clock spring and wire it into that....

Use a clock spring FFS, if you use a tonne of wire, it will not last long at all in fact I can not even believe I read that, had to re read this several times to make sure I was not just tired and mis reading it hmmm

That is actually my future project, I'll be using the usb pc game controller and possibly customize my steering wheel.
edited: wireless controller is ideal for this project.

I actually hacked up a $10 USB gamepad and it worked a treat, but I never got around to figuring out a way to get the signals from the controls once they were mounted on the steering wheel.

Did you look in to getting a clock spring from an Xi rada? So long as the steering wheel controls used atleast 4 wires, this could be used for a USB device. Just snip and solder at both ends of the clock spring and solder on usb female connections.

Verada steeering wheel remotes only use 2 wires. A power and signal.

Sweet, thanks.
I will be using something like joycon to connect it all, so that should all be pretty straight forward.
