Just want to know is $1700 a good price for a full exhaust system?

define full system? Cat back or including extractors?

I got quoted $1200 from Scott's Rods for Pacies, high-flow cat, 2.5" piping and a new muffler. He's out at Ipswich and has been recommended by a few of the QMD guys. Expect to pay more depending on the brand though - for example, Magnaflow mufflers are around the $400 mark alone plus fitting.

1700 and legal is a good price. 1700 even including headers is a touch on the exxy side. If its good brand name stuff, then really its much of a muchness isnt it.

I got a cat back exhaust system for my wife's car with a big stainless cannon for $700 from Liverpool exhaust.

I've since found a mob that would have done it for $500 or less.

Pacemaker extractors are available from a few places for about $499, so add my cat back price of $500 + ?$250? for a 2.5" cat + $250 for installation of the front half and that's $1500 - $1700 depending on which shop does the work.

So yeah, that sounds about right to me. I'm sure some places could do it closer to $1250 for a "functional but not pretty" complete 2.5" press bent system and a non shiny muffler - at least that's what I would expect.

$1700 is way too much
Let me break it down for you:
- Pacemaker headers ($460 delivered from Phillcom Rally)
- Redback 2.5" mandrel bent cat back ($350 from ebay or a zorst shop)
- High flow metal cat ($200 from ebay)

That's just over $1000 in parts (rough figures)
Than add labour, cutting/welding, pipework, etc which should be around $300-$400 depending on where you go
That's a total of around $1400 all up

If thats a full stainless system, with the extractors ceramic coated, its a resonable price, but if its a mild steel system with no coating then yeah its a little bit too much. Anything below about 1300-1500 is resonable for a mild steel system.

having just paid for and installed my own exhaust I can say that $1700 might be a good deal. I paid about that in parts for a 3" mandrel stainless setup with 2 x 4" Magnaflow middle mufflers and a Lukey rear muffler and I already had the extractors. the killer was all the flanges, bends and pipe that we needed.

if it's 2.5" stainless mandrel bent with decent extractors, then $1700 would be about right.

if it's mild steel, I wouldn't pay more than $1200.

cheers,
