Will be getting some new woofers in around a month when I finally get some monies and would just like some opinions....
Im thinking about getting 2 RE SE 12" subs and running off a single alpine MRP-m1000 amp. This will be costing around $950
Will also be building a sealed box as im looking for sql not spl.
Would love to know if anybody else can got RE SE's and what they are like!!
Would also love to know if there are some different sub/amp combinations that might be better than this one (For the same price...)...
I know everybody has different opinions on good woofers...blah blah.... but im looking for personal opinions, not wanting to start a war... :)

I'm not sure what the SQ and SPL on the RE is like but since I'm a VIBE dealer I really can't fault the Space series of subwoofers. Its got proven SQ ability and 1000rms on tap so thats my opinion of the best combo at your budget.

I would second that, the Space gear is very very nice! :)
Can't comment on the RE gear, as I have never heard it...

For SQL go 4.5 cuft box ported to 30hz.

For your budget the Space woofers are a great option. I remember comparing the V1 with other high quality woofers ( Boston G5, Hertz HXS, Crossfire XT etc ) and the Vibe was by far my favourite. They left the country when I was ready to buy so I stuck with the Boston.
You can get them in the CBR box for around the same money as just the woofer alone. Great thing with the Vibe box, it comes ported via 2x tuned ports. You can either plug both up to go with a large sealed, or plug one up and drop the port tune ( what I would do ). Or leave both open for Max Spl. Great idea. Only downside with the CBR box is they mount the DVC 4ohm woofer in it, Joe can confirm if they can put a DVC 2ohm to maximise the amp.
For such a powerful woofer, it will sound great off +/- 50% of it's rated power which is a tribute to how well they are built.
I can't wait for Deep Space, 2000WRMS :D:D

Deep Space... :D :D
I was actually going to find a way to skip the box for him so that I could do it a little cheaper and include the SPL Dynamics amplifier so that it would have plenty of power. Hes getting a sealed box so it would actually be best to custom build it to around 2.5 cubic ft which will allow the Space woofer to go nice and deep.
That said, if he wanted to roll with the CBR box I would just have to find a solution to fit it in the budget :)

Will definately consider that vibe sub and spl amp combo! Sounds to be a very nice sub! Although I still think the amp is a little overpriced ($700 compared to to the alpine mrp-m1000 or nakamichi 1200wrms+ amp I can get for $400.....Dont know if I could justify spending that much on an amp that ive never even heard of before....)
Another combo I am considering is:
12" RE MX subwoofer (1500wrms and smexy) and the naka amp for just under $1000
They arent gonna come with warranties as they would be from Amedika (Well, they will, but its prob not worth money sending them all the way there and back to get fixed...), but im not too fussed with warranties, never had any speakers or amps die on me before (**Touchwood) as I always treat them with care. Plus, the warranties probably wouldnt cover most things that would go wrong anyway (burnt voice coils etc) as it would be misuse....
Still got another few weeks to make my decision though.........so keep the suggestions coming! :) Thanks!

O your importing, would explain the lower prices. Beware of the Nak @ 1 ohm, I'm not sure if its 1 ohm stable.
http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=17
I didn't put the 1 ohm rating up on request from the Australian distributor as he told me he has had PLENTY of returns on fried monos which had been pushed at 1 ohm.
I was under the impression that the MX was more SPL geared, am I wrong in saying this?

Oh! Didnt know you stocked nakas!! Thanks for that info though, looks like a nak wont be for me then as I would need 1ohm to run a DVC 2ohm sub... hmmmm
Ahha, nah the MX (and XXX series) are apparently more for SQL than SPL (Wouldnt have thought so just looking at it though)

Would you consider a VIBE/STEG combination. British sub, Italian amplifier :D
I should be able to fit it in your budget :D

Something like that would do with a dual 2 ohm subwoofer. It puts out a bit more than what it says and its made in Italy so you can't go wrong with quality.

MGNTZD on the forums here has a 15" RE XXX... and i've heard it.. or rather felt it, and it's fairly awesome! The bass makes your ears bleed.. however at the same time, it runs very smooth with a range of music. I'd suggest shooting him a PM if you want some in depth info on it :)

Ahah thanks man, yeah ive seen his thread on it! Looks *********** awesome!! Ive heard nothing but good things about the XXX series...
I Considered getting a XXX, but its gonna cost another few hundred (And I would need to get a higher powered amp too (2000wrms), dont even know where to find one this powerfull!!). And would prob be a bit of an overkill for me though as im not trying to win any comps or anything.....
Im pretty sure the MX is just a smaller version of the XXX (Certainly looks the same) so thats why I considered it... :)
Another thing I need to know: How much power do I need to be drawing before I have to upgrade to a high output alternator?? A high power batt is on the cards for this new setup but I havent thought about a new alt yet....

2-3000rms would be the point at which I would upgrade. Then again you probably wouldn't have to, I'm just cautious.
And what do you mean you don't know where to get 2000rms amps? http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=8

Ahhhh awesome! Hopefully wont have to upgrade as ill prob be running a little under under 2Krms (Subwoofer + 500wrms already going to my speakers) :D Thanks Joe.
Wow, Nice amp! If I had the monies I would def go for that amp +15" XXX Woofer!

10 000wrms!!! Holy shit!! That would be one hell of a setup!!!
Would be very interesting to know exactly how much a completely stock electrical system could take!.. Im currently running around 900wrms on completely stock elec system and can still play my music with the car off for a few hours...(Never actually had my battery go flat.... *touchwood) and never had my headlights dim....

Just out of curiosity, how much is one of those amps?
Joe Bellissimo

Around 8 grand RRP. But anyone whos buying one of those is more than likely getting sponsored since its an insane amplifier for SPL use so the price will be lower than that in most cases.

Have you got all your gear yet mate?
Havent decided on an amp yet, but did decide on my subwoofer a few days ago (and paid for it).....
Was between the 12" Vibe, RE MX and for a little extra the RE XXX.
So I bought the RE XXX 12"!! :D :D :D
I decided I would dish out the little bit extra and have a sub that I would hopefully not have to replace for a long time (Cant even think of anything I would want to replace it with, other than dual XXX's).... And after reading all the reviews online it seemed like the perfect subwoofer.. Couldnt find any negotives to it other than its price!
Im 3 quarters through making my sub box for it (2.9ft^2, as apparently recommended by re in this (http://http://www.caraudiomag.com/features/0704_cae_subwoofer_re_audio_xxx_12d2/index.html) article) And Ive read loads of reviews online that all say that Re's specs online (1.1ft^1) are wayyy to small, so looks like 2.9 should be good. I will also have bracing which will bring the intrernal volume down a little...
So just got to decided on an amp now (and get some monies for it!!)! :D
