What's the hot tip for cheap shocks for the front of a TS? Nothing fancy required - a workhorse car only. Plus it lives up a long dirt road, and the corrugations trash suspension - I'll be doing this again in a few years anyway!

Not sure about the cheap Ultimas on ebay though - when I say cheap I dont mean I want dodgy... ;)

Next cheapest I found were Gabriels at supercheap for 150 each. Can I do better than this?

I paid about $260 for KYG(?) 2x front for my ts wagon locally in perth wholesale, seem good.

If you keep an eye out you could find some near-new 2nd-hand ones at wreckers, I picked up some near-new Monroe GT's for $75 a while ago, I noticed the shockies 'cause I was checking out rear links and saw that the wagon I was looking at had obviously had all of it's suspension replaced, and it was all still quite clean.
The same wreckers now regularly do a "$50 all you can carry" weekend, so you could grab some suspension and more.
Just another possibility.

The Ultimas are actually pretty good, mates got them in his falcon, done over 60K on em and there still pretty good.
$300 for a pair is a rip off, if not contact philcom rally our sponsor

Cool - thanks guys. I know what's good and what's cheap for Renaults, but the jap stuff I am all at sea with :) I'll have a check of the local pickaparts first.

Front left strut has shat itself - oil everywhere... But I have to say it's been a bloody brilliant workhorse. Cheap as buggery to run (on gas) and really tough. Spends it's life on dodgy country roads, tows and gets minimal love.

WOO!!! Pair of BRAND NEW Pedders gas struts at Pickapart for $45 (not the best brand, but price was right ;) )

The Magna retains it's crown as the cheapest car I've ever had :)

Bought the struts complete, but unfortunatly they have low King Springs on them (was a very clapped out TR sedan they were on - makes me wonder why anyone would have spent reasonable dollars putting in lowering springs with new gas shocks!!!)

I'll put an ad in the for sale section - the springs might be useful to someone here?

I'd STILL recommend Ultimas :).
