Ok Guys,

Problemo.

I have only noticed it recently, but when I give my car a bit of a boot-full, it sounds like i am running on like 5 cylinders or something. It seems to have a slight 'burble' if you could call it that? Not out the exhaust, but the engine...it isnt a smooth sound that the engine makes, its more rough.

I showed a friend today he noticed it aswell, but it doesnt sound sick or anything - I was wondering if this is what a normal 3.5 sounds like. I have no engine modifications - but i have removed the reso's on the intake.

Anybody got any clue? My friend thought maybe my timing was out, or i have dirty plugs.

does it sound real throaty and heavy load? could be that you havent fitted your air filter properly (ie there is air entering the car AFTER the air filter).that will make it sound real throaty, like you have a pod filter..

or maybe one of your caps from removing the ressi's has come out?

TBH, it sounds very V8ish...you could be right - i'll go have a look. cheers mate.

mate i have been chasing a similar sound for two years, like a very quiet V8 rumble. took it too a few mechanics to get opinions and they all said it was the V6 sound. its that wop-wop-wop-wop-wop sound but very quiet, almost and is consistent with revs. I think its just the noise of the combustion. i have been over my engine with a fine tooth comb, and all in oprder plus i found out that the engine is a recon unit, 40,000 kms ago so yeah, just paranoid!!

Yeah it sounds like lumpy? You know when cars have a lumpy ass idle? - well it sounds like that when im like...+60% throttle.

yeah mate sounds similar to what i hear, if i lean down towards the centre console when the wife is driving (it happens unfortunately!) i can hear it well. sure its just thst V6 bump as now i have the canon on the back i found it matches the exhaust noise. if you want to be sure, check your plugs, if ones missing it should show, but there would be a noticible powerloss. happened to a V6 honda legend i had, when it dropped a cylinder it was gutless as hell.

Mine sounds the same from about 3kish onwards... Every other V6 magna I've sat in seems the same - Amin (HRD2GT)'s was the best though :)
