Hello Magna Heads,
I have a 1996 Magna TE Auto, I recently flushed the transmission oil after which the gear box ran like an absolute dream. But now, some 10days later, its back to its old tricks of delayed gear changing (only slightly, but delayed non the less). I was wondering how the flush made a difference? Why would it only last 7 - 10 days, strange  i thought. Any ideas?
My TE auto was changing very hard recently, and I reset the ECU by just disconnecting the battery overnight.
It's been perfect ever since.
Maybe that will help, but sorry I don't have any other suggestions.
Cheers!
Could it be a heat issue?
i know that since i have had my box changed after giving it a hard time for a while it plays up, then comes good again after backing off for a minute or two..
maybe a blockage in the trans cooler or something?

How did you drive after you got your TC flushed? did you redline it whenever you could?
Have a check on the Trans Fluid to see if it's okay, Flushing the TC ensures you have fresh trans fluid through out the Transmission, if your trans fluid was as burnt as mine, than it would help a great deal.
The problem with out a tranny cooler is that the Tranny fluid gets hot really quickly and that the stock cooler on the radiator is not efficient enough to cool it down, the fluid will get burnt sooner and then the shift pattern will be flarey - slower.
However, check your fluid first, if it's okay, reset the ECU by disconnecting the Battery for 5-10min and then drive your car as you would for at least 10min for the ECU to relearn, and if it's still flarey, then I think the Tranny fluid is wrong type.

Any more info on the auto trans cooler? Im very interested in installing one, mainly to cut down the risk of over heating problems and hopefully extending my auto trans life. How much would a trans cooler set me back? And are they easy to DIY install?

any transmission/diff shop will sale these units, they come in 3 common sizes, small, med, large.
it can be DIY but could get messy, my med cost $160. I hear Mitsiman have a few on sale, much cheaper than $160.

The fluid was replaced by a Mitsubishi garage so i hope it was the right one...I reset the CPU and i cannot notice any difference. I do not drive aggresively either, so i am still wondering if i should go to a tranny specialist and have it looked at.
