Hi everyone.
My first post on the AussieMagna forums! We are in Wollongong NSW and have owned (wife has owned) a TJ AWD since 2004.

My wife's car was just recently killed by a guy who decided to turn against a red arrow.
Sad, because it was a brilliant car :( Both her and our daughter ended up in hospital, no serious damage apart from seatbelts and airbag burns.

Anyway back in the market, have looked at a few to replace it with. Some good, some not so good.

These two

TL Magna - AWD VRX (http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=7729788&__sid=121C9FA064CE&__Qpb=true&Cr=11&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201247%201252%201282%204294964597%2042949 64374%201707&SearchAction=N&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=37&silo=1011)

Verada GTVi - SA (http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=7778812&__Qpb=true&Cr=3&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201247%201252%201282%204294964597%2042949 64081%204294919331&SearchAction=N&silo=1011&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=5&__sid=121C9FA064CE)

on carsales look ok but I wanted to ask people what they thought.

Problem with link 1 is that it has 19" wheels with 93W rated tyres (checked with the owner). Now I know they would never pass blueslip in NSW so I would be up for new wheels/tyres. Let alone driving it back to NSW with (possibly) dodgy rego and insurance. Love the decal job though.

Second one is on LPG. Now, our TJ was on LPG, but according to the Mitsubishi web site on alternate fuels, the Verada is unsuitable for LPG. Don't know why Mitsubishi says that, but that scares me off a bit.

Thanks for any feedback.

Chris

Weclome! Sorry to hear about the accident, glad all are well. cars can be replaced!

All AWD''s had essentially the same engine throughout the magna and verada range, so i see no reason as to why LPG would be unsuitable for a TL or TW. Perhaps someone has info on this. I would definately get the GTVi out of those two though

Welcome to the club mate, it's a shame your first post is a crash! But never fear, there are plenty of other great Magnas & Veradas around ;) If you were going to get that VR-X, the first thing I'd be doing would be taking off the Ralliart stickers, but either way, I'd choose the GTVi anyway ;)

If you need some information on LPG Conversions, have a look at our sponsor LessLPG Systems (http://aussiemagna.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=77). Check out some of the information in their section of the forums and you might find the answers you need :)

Welcome!! Good to see another AWD fan. I have seen that VR-X for sale for a very long time now. He has dropped $5000 since earlier this year. I'd go for the GTVi looks good, and the GTVi is exactly the same mechanically as the VR-X (aka sports exhaust for the extra few KW's) and suspension (slightly stiffer springs). There might be a member in SA who could check it out for you??
Hope to see you on one of our socials / cruises in the future.

Hey mate.

Go the GTV anyday.
There is no issue with LPG on any 3rd gen.
Do you know what sort of lpg system it has? A mixer style or SVI injection system?
Some people do install the upper head lube system as a little bit of insurance for LPG and valves.
Worth the piece of mind in my opinion and they are only like $100 a kit.

No. I don't what LPG system is on it yet.

He is sending me more info tonight on the vehicle.

We had the FlashLube on the TJ Magna for the LPG even though the installer said it wasn't necessary. Piece of mind I guess. Never know now :)

Just to confuse things the wife likes the "Fusion Burst" 380 that has just popped up on carsales..... decisions, decisions

Nah mate, after having an AWD you will regret going back to a FWD. Wheel spins galore after driving and AWD.

Good question.

Last I saw of it was at the smash repairers (just after I ripped out the $1000 DVD player and replaced it with the stock CD player :shhhh: ).

I believe it has gone up to be auctioned as a "repairable write-off" or something.

You should find out how much the insurance company want for it to buy it back...

Might be worth it in spares...

Yes. Saw the silver one. My wife won't buy silver.

After the accident she wants the new car to stick out like dogs balls.

Can't be dark grey, silver or any of those platinum variants.

Then I think your first link is the winner! :)

How about finding one that's body isn't in the best nic and respraying it a Hyundai yellow?!

how has the search gone?

none of these cars seem to link anymore.

we have old technology lpg on 05 gtvi awd. no probs as yet after 65,oooklms. just plugs.

we might put upper lube kit in.

hope you found your best replacement car.
