I have a KR verada and a TS Advance, both have the same problem, if I slow down to say 10-20 k's and hit the trottle the car is still in drive 3rd unless I hit the trottle harder or manualy put the trans in second, it makes for take offs really slow unless I hit ther trottle harder or put it in second, anyone have any ideas what maybe the problem?

just a guess

does you auto model have a kickdown switch at the top of the pedal

or there might be an electrical fault in the kickdown solenoid on the box

or timing problem wiith the motor

simalr thing used to happen on our tr, after the fluid was changed and the ecu reset it solved the issue

thanks perry, whats invloved with getting the ecu reset? also just wondering is the TE-TJ a big improvement over the TR-TS as I'm thinking of getting one

Yep - the TS box is lazy, letting the torque converter do most of the work when you pick up speed from slow. Stays in third, only a manual shift to second will cure it, or a full throttle kick in the kickdown switch, but then its likely to drop to first and rev like mad. I prefer to sit back and just let the torque converter do its job. Later auto boxes like the 380 are so much better at guessing what gear you would like to be in. Resetting the ECU and changing the trans oil made no difference to mine.

disconnecting the battery terminals and leaving them off for a few hrs.

5 minutes is all that is needed.

If you want to be sure there is no current in the system, put the ignition to 'ON' and hold the brake pedal down for short period of time.

Thanks everyone for your input, I will try and rest the ECU and see if that makes any difference.
