Just wondering if a regas is required?
I have a TE, Aircon has been pretty average since I bought it, it works just not blasting out super cold air.
Would a re-gas fix this? Or are TE Aircons known to be pretty crap?
After yesterday, I will go and get a regas asap if this will fix it.

Yup,
Get the seals checked for leaks.
Thank goodness I had the foresight to have my car topped up about 4 weeks ago.
You should be able to get a deal at around $90 for a check and regas.
No problem driving round Olympic Park in 43° yesterday afternoon.

Got my TF regassed after it had gone a bit useless in last summers heat, they found I had a perished o-ring in the system and the coolant had been leaking out. After regassing, it's cold enough - even on a 40 deg day.
You need to maintain them too - run them for at least 5 minutes every week to keep it all lubricated.

Cool, cant wait to get it done now.
How long does it normally take to do a regas?
Might have a look at getting it done this week, tomorrow if possible.
How much will it be to get the seals done? O ring etc?
It is leaking a bit so I am sure that will need to be done.

Yep... even in winter....
To replace the "o" rings it depends on where it is....
I had an aircon pipe rub on the edge of the radiator and burst.... pipe was $24 including o rings... it all comes down to labour to get to it...if it's behind the dash then of course it'll be more expensive.
Then they fill it with gas and a flourescent dye to see where the leak is...
Stage Co. in Blacktown near the station has had deals recently for regassing around the $75-$90 range... nice guys too.
Takes about half an hour if there isn't anything major wrong.
Remember... once done... run the aircon at least once a week....
Then on days like yesterday at 43 degrees.... you get goose bumps in the car!!!

Sebesto sell a kit that has some air con oil mixed with the gas and stopleak stuff, plus its got the dye and a little blacklight to find any leaks. i did mine as it was low on oil and the compresser was clicking when engaged. i just need a top up now!! not sure on kit price i got the kit plus extra cans of the stuff for $50 on trademe.

Wow, that sounds pretty cheap, how hard a job is it?
Actually, for the extra money, might be worth just getting it done at a shop.

its also illegal to do a/c work without an ARC licence or even to sell a/c refrigerant/tools to a non licenced business/individual (federal law... sucks ass.... just another way of them tightening the thumb screws)

Because some idiot will think its okay to vent the A/C gas to atmo. Thats why. Why else does the A/C qualification course exist?
Using the same logic, everyone should be able to fiddle with and install LPG systems if they want to :P

i dont have a problem with the licence as such.. only the way that the white collar meat heads in govt decided to go about it... and the greef the put me thru to get the licence, and the agro i get from customers that want a simple top up and i tell them that i cant just top it up, or they have a leaking compressor and it needs to be fixed before i can regas it... but its been leaking for years, oh and those individuals that have stockpiles of r12/r134a, filling up their defective systems as they leak out and never being caught up on it
i am also personally responsible for reporting a few dodgy tradies dumping gas... hope they enjoy their $5k fines
