Hey guys ,,had my pump die this afternoon got the racv guy come out with his trusty hammer and got the car going again ,,but will need to replace pump asap ,,are they hard to do? ,,are there any instructions on here someone could lead me to so i can do it my self ??

as i understand it it's a little involved but not "that big" a job, requires draining the fuel .. is in it or attached to the side of it or some such.
someone actually qualified is welcome to follow up but i thought i'd pipe in with my thoughts. :)

dont know about magnas but with commodores (especially VT's always seem to do it) when the fuel pump dies, bash it with a hammer and they are usually off again.... temporarily

yeah but arent they intake fuel pumps in the 2nd gens (3rd gens are)...

They are in-tank pumps so not sure how he hit it with a hammer

Yep, definitely an in-tank pump, got me confused as well.

All done and fixed ,,easy job managed to download the pdf work shop file aqnd worked out how to do it myself ,,pretty easy job ,,the racv guy gremlin belted the pump with the hammer and for some reason the pump just kicked off and ran ,,so if in doubt hit the bloody thing with a hammer ,im going to go out side and hit it with the hammer to see weather it will fix the pain job ,,,:-)

ps : im guessing it was the attachment plate where the pump fits into that was hit with the hammer ,,it worked what ever he did ,,

so he pulled the back seat of ur car out and hit the top plate? pretty cool of him to go to that effort :)

back seat ??? hmmmm no ,,i didnt even have to do that when i chaged the thing LOL ,,

what exactly did you change then? fuel filter possibly?
***in 3rd gens you remove the back seat to get the pump out. ive never worked on a 2nd gen so i dont no if its the same??****

2nd gens the fuel pump is accessed from the rear. Lie under your tow bar and youll see the electrical connector joined to the tank
