View Full Version : Patching with paint
Whats the best sort of weather to let paint dry on a car? I want to mod my washer nozzles and I need to paint the bare metal. It's a bit humid in Melbourne today - does that matter?? I know to avoid rain, but does it need to be blazing sun and 30 deg no humidity for the paint to dry/cure properly?

when i did mine it was just a warm day, but personally if you keep them out of direct sunlight and wind/rain it should be alright. just allow for extra drying conditions if cold or overly humid :)

Try and do it on an as dry day as possible - Rain & humidity etc
This will help prevent moisture getting in / under the paint and then causing rust in later years and make the final job look much better of course
Why are you cutting the bonnet?
I realise the Washer Jets are too large to fit into the bonnet holes, but I was under the (possibly wrong) impression, that the washer jets where able to be trimmed down a bit to fit without cutting?
EDIT - you are only just doing small touch ups arnt you?
not respraying your bonnet?
no? - didnt think so.

Use a decent metal primer, an humidity can cause problems as can cold weather.
