Hi, im looking at wheels to buy on ebay and i found some 18's with an offset of 35 on 235/40's
and they look good but i just got screwed because i went and tried some wheels and they were too
wide.. So I was told i would be pretty safe looking for wheels from Falcons, Camry's, and most Honda's
but what about wheels from Hilux's? would it make a difference? excuse the ignorance.. :kb:
I'm assuming you've got the same size factory tyres as me - mine is 215/60/16 on 16x6" rims on my 2003 TJ Sports AWD.
I don't know about the wheels, but my calculations tell me that 235/40/18 tyres are too small.
You'd want 235/45/18 or 245/40/18 etc to match the factory Magna diameter.
(235/40/18 = 645.2mm diameter, but 215/60/16 = 664.4mm and 19.2mm is over the allowed 15mm diameter difference)
What's your car's standard wheel + tyre size?
Cheers,
Graham.

I have 205/65R15's on there atm.. as its a TE 97, 6 years older than yours haha
So what does that mean? i dont know what difference the diameter makes?:confused::confused:

Sports were bigger from factory (as were Ralliarts and AWDs I think).
the stock tyre size is, as Polvo mentioned, 205/65r15 so 235/40r18 is the correct size for that car.
you're looking for 5x114.3 PCD, 18x8 with between +35 and +40 offset should suit.
I don't think Hilux rims would fit. there's plenty of aftermarket rims for AU-BF falcons that will fit perfectly.

Yes, I have a list of 5x114.3 cars. The Previous hilux to the current model has the 5x114.3 stud pattern.
they changed to 6 studs with the current version. ok well sounds like im good to buy these wheels :woot::happy::eek2:

what about the offset for 17" rims? would skyline rims fit?

I have the feeling with a lot of imports, there's a fair range of offsets that will fit on them - it's a much wider range than what we have to play with on Magnas.
The ONLY way to be 100% sure is to ASK for the offset. Any seller that actually wants to sell their rims will find this out for you. They have no excuse as it's stamped on the rim.
The rim diameter (17, 18", etc) doesn't really make a difference (since you can't alter the rolling diameter significantly) - it's the width and offset that will make or break it.

Do you mean would skyline rims fit on a Magna? offsets range for each kind of wheel, from different makers, different wheel types (drifting etc) also ranges with RWD to FWD etc..

yes. yes they do. if you dont mind filing down the inside bore a little.
R34 GT-T rims, i think 17x7.5 +38 or so? not too sure.
ive still got these lying around if you want to trial fit, but theyre not in any condition to be driven on

Hi guys..
Im still looking for wheels and im wondering if these will fit on my TE?
Ebay add:
19" chrome rims/wheels they are a 5 stud x105mm & 5 stud x114.3mm the tyres are in good condition the wheels suit a FORD FOCUS or MAZDA 3/6 all nuts and locknuts are included
On 27-Nov-09 at 08:51:01 AEDST, seller added the following information:
19" chrome rims to suit a ford focus or mazda 3 & 6 tyres in good condition lock nuts included... THE OFFSET IS 45
Is that offset okay? if it can fit on mazda 6's and 3's surely it will be fine on a Te?
Please give input :D

Thanks for that :)
the seller doesnt know the width of the rims.. she only knows they are 19's
and they are currently on a Focus XR5 Turbo. and i was told the Tire code was 215/352R19
but i just interpreted it as 215/35R19 is that rite?

are they still on the car? the size will be stamped on the inside of the rim (something like 19x7.5J) along with all the other info about the rims.
I would suggest 215/35r19 tyres would likely be on 7.5" wide rims... but get her to check!

Well in the Wheel Calculator you showed me, after putting in all the dimensions it wont let me make the
Width higher than 8 without changing the tire size.. so it stays at 215 until i put it on 8.5 which changes it
to 225. So i can only assume that they arnt wider than 8 which means they will not exceed the guards..
plus she seems very ignorant so im hesitant to ask :)

7" and +45 should fit OK, the VR-X/Ralliart models came standard with 7" and +46 rims. Mind you though, rims like that will sit pretty far inside the guards, which negates half the purpose of buying new rims IMO.
If you buy them, keep in mind the tyres are illegal for Magnas. 215/35R19 is 23.7mm smaller than 225/50R17s, which would make it illegal in NSW (afaik you can go +/- 15mm in NSW. In Qld it's up to 26mm smaller but I wouldn't recommend it).

ok well story is that im not bothering with those wheels anymore and the ones from way back in this threat have been offered too me because the other buyer pulled out.. So the Dimensions are 235/40/18. with +35 offset.. but im not sure how wide they are.. can anyone confirm if they will fit?

I have 235/40R18s on 8" wide +38 rims. Compared to my standard VR-X tyres, the rolling diameter is 11mm smaller, which is well within the legal guidelines (my speedo now over reads by about 2km/h). I have King Low springs. I had to roll the rear guards since the tyres sit underneath them - unless you have insanely stiff suspension you're bound to rub sooner or later. On the front the tyre pokes out by the teeniest of margins but it doesn't actually cause any issues. The trade-off is that they look pretty damn good and fill up the guards very nicely - check out my Members Machines thread for pics.

dude!!!
you need all three dimensions. diameter, width and offset. two out of three doesn't work. if we have to guess how wide the rims are, we can't tell whether they'll fit or not.
EDIT: Red, you car came came with 225/50r17s, Polvo's came with 205/65r15s. 235/40r18 is almost a perfect match for his car.

+46 offset?
Errr, no they didnt. They were the same +35 as all the other Magna's got.

Wrong, no Magna ever got a +35 fitment, all of them were +46 - dunno about the 15" rims, but the 16x6s, 16x7s, and 17x7s definitely were.

Hmmn,
Looks like you and Red Valdez are right.
After actually checking a set of wheels, it does look like they are 46.
Anyway, carry on.
