Hi Guys

Just introducing myself, My name is Gino and I recently bought a blue '05 VRX with leather and electric sunroof and OEM mitsu bluetooth. I'm well and truely happy with this car. The reason for the purchase is someone offered to buy my last car and since my wife is due to give birth next week, I had to buy a car quick smart. The 380 wasn't on the top of my priority list but I found one at a price I couldn't refuse and couldn't be happier.

Its smooth and comfortable and roomier than my last car. My aim for this car is to keep it relatively stock as I've done the whole mod/quick car thing, but I do want to bring my average fuel consumption down to as low as I can. So i will be looking at getting a bigger snorkel, K&N panel filter and the resonator mod, depending on how I go I might upgrade the muffler. I also want to get the ipod/iphone stereo kit.

My last car was a bit more exiting but sold in a flash and it wasn't even for sale! I had a mate ring me up who was interested and before you know it it was sold. Here is an extract from a previous "member's ride" section on a different forum.

Car was a 2001 Evo VII

MODS
Engine
Apexi Power FC
Apexi AVC-R
Custom 3" mandrel bent exhaust with extra muffler before canon to make the car quiet
Turst/GReddy spec M Intercooler
TD06-20G turbo
Meek cluck kit
HKS SSQ BOV with recirculating kit

Suspension
D2s Race coil-overs

Interior
Ralliart 300 Km/h Dash
Evo VIII MR carbon dash surround (came with car from Japan)
Carputer in boot with 7" flipout touchscreen
1 DIN RalliartArt 3 gauge kit (Oil Temp, Oil Press, Boost press)

Exterior
Wing insert sprayed black
Complete Evo IX front end (I loathed the VII front end, so square and out of date)
Evo VIII/IX carbon fibre bonnet
Gas struts to hold bonnet up (best freaken invention ever)
Ralliart "Spirit of competition" decal on bonnet
Black Ralliart copy front spoiler
Reverse camera (came with 7" screen)
Evo VIII MR tail lights
Evo VIII MR headlights

Power
The Power-FC was tuned with stock turbo on 1.35-1.4kg/cm^2 and on the last dyno day it made 207kw@all4s
That said it ran out of puff towards top end.
With the 20G on the same old tune it pulled 220kws@all 4s. A retune and more boost (as it was just coming on song) would have netted me a bit more.

Look forward to sharing ideas and getting to know a bit more about my new car

cheers

Gino

youve done real well getting an electro blue with the leather, sunroof and bluetooth. was what i wanted when i got the GT. gonna need a piggyback ecu for optimum fuel econ, along with the other mods youve already listed. check out foozrcools members ride thread (while it was NA) as it was one of the best on fuel and hes one of few to have done a write up:P

Im at work at the moment, but I'll post some pics when I get home.

The plates I still have, they are in storage at the RTA and will prob never get rid of them, as I have had them for years and they incur no anual fee.

Was contemplating putting them on the 380, but I'll never boost it, so I'll just look like a tosser with them on.

Thanks wombat.

The wife is heavily pregnant, due next week and at home all day, so I can def say I will not make it. I'll endeavour to pop down in a few weeks time, especially considering I work in Rosehill, which is a stone-throw away from the Albion.

Cheers for the welcome guys

Another new recruit. This thread was started by a newcomer and already another one joins in midway! Good stuff.
Welcome both of you. They're a good car the 380. I doubt if anyone here has anything bad (significantly) to say about them.
Plenty of cheap and not-so-cheap mods are awaiting you.

Correct, I got the plates years ago before the RTA starting charging an annual fee for choosing plates.
I've had the plates in my GTi-R and my Evo.

66,000 kms and being a '05 model I believe it still has a year's worth of manufacturer's warranty

Welcome. I'm a new member also. Love that colour. After letting my daughter go for a drive in mine, she's now out looking and yours is the colour she wants. Her last car was an 2002 MR2 but she's a Mum now and want something bigger.
Cheers.

If the others are anything like my registration attempts - it doesnt suprise me a few members got approved at the same time. I had 3 accounts deleted over 2 months, repeated admin emails and FINALLY my 4th attempt got approved after a month!

(end forum gripe, im glad to be here!)

hey mate what made you want to go from an evo to a 380?

Same thing that makes you go from a Lancer with 18" rims lowered to a Magna station wagon,KIDS.
But at least got back into a 380 GT once they were over the baby stage and have some respect for cars

hey mate what made you want to go from an evo to a 380?

I was actualy going to keep the Evo and whack the baby seat in the back, but I got an offer which was reasonable, so I took it.

There is an influx of cheap jap imports atm so the evos will depreciately rapidly over the next few years.

I guess I was given an opportunity to pull the rip cord at the right moment and I took it.

Besides with the coilovers and exhaust, the evo was not the most comfortable ride, especially for a new born.

I like the colour, sometimes it looks purple, sometimes it looks blue, depends on the lighting. I really wasn't after any particular colour, although I am fond of white, but I couldn't pass on this one

There's also a darker blue that I've seen on earlier 380's. Very nice as well. When we went to the dealer, he had about four 380's in just about every colour. We chose the black because it had the lowest mileage and the salesgirl dented the rear bumber on the Storm Grey one. Our first choice.

Cheers.

I havent seen too many baby restraints with kidney belts and HANS devices lol. Great family truckster though the 380. Best value for money car around apparently according to Choice (I think).
