Hey

I'm contemplating purchasing a muffler from someone on the hot4s forum.

http://forum.hot4s.com/messageview.cfm?catid=30&threadid=20101

i want the megacone (top one) for 100 plus 10 postage.

A few questions I have are like, i'm just gonna have this rear muffler, and possible a hi-flow air filter element. Since it has a silencer it shouldn't be too loud...should it?

2.5" in and 2.25" stock piping shouldn't be a problem and hopefully any exhaust shop can fix right?

Also, this will fit in the back of a TF 3rd gen legally right (protrusions, positions and angles?)

this is what im gonna do too.As long as its not too loud it should be ok.as far as mountings and angles go its easy bend there weld bracket here piece of piss. Most rego places should pass it.

When you get really bad drone while crusing on the freeway, you'll understand why ppl left cannon and get Lukey, redback and others.

Cannons have great looks, but it doesn't do anything other than make your car loud!

the situation you are in at the moment, you have 2.25" pipe, a 2.5" cannon will give you NO back pressure what so ever, and you're going to hate your pick up torque, city driving will not be fun, although it'll sound good.

if you get a cannon, make sure the inlet is slightly smaller than your pipe, else it's not doing what it should as a muffler. Ask an exhaust shop why Lukey straight through mufflers can give you the right back pressure whilst remain straight through. simply put, the inlet into the lukey straight throughs are slightly smaller than your pipe, this oriffice creates back pressure.

Because some people think cannons look gay, especially when angled and pointed upwards

personally i hate cannons tilted to the side and up a lil.... its only my opinion but to me onlu tips are meant to be seen and look good not the whole thing behind it..... and u normally find that this is done on the slowest cars lol (most of the time) but like killbilly said , horses for courses ....

ive got a nice big cannon, its not on an angle or anything, it sits nicely in the rear bar with a section cut out of it, i dont get much of a drone but ive got extractors and a 2.5 all the way through
i'll post up some pics soon as i can, there on my other computer,
spose its up to the person wat they like,

Dude go for performance and get a Lukey. Then you can just add whatever exhaust tip you like on it and there are plenty to choose from. I don't really like the look of cannon's unless its like a skyline or silvia etc cos it suits the car. Having a cannon on a magna looks soo ricey in my opinion and it just doesnt suit a family car. Go for Lukey or Redback I say. You can get good performance, good sound that isn't annoying and no droning!!

Did you ever go for a dyno power run? Would be keen to see what you can pull.

if u have an auto cannons sound kind of wierd when the car shifts but if u get a small cannon it sounds really bad no bore so get a cannon with a bit of bore sound to it if ure gonna get one :)
