Power Socket next to ashtray has stopped working.
Checked fuses they seem ok.
Visual inspection of socket looks ok.
Reached fingers around back of socket feels ok.
Thought I would ask if anybody has experienced this problem before I pull everything apart.?

Did it stop working the lighter? that could be the fault, or whatever your using in it. check it with another fitting to double check.

Could be the fuse, has anything else stopped working?
Try replacing the fuse, even tho it looks ok it may still be burnt

On the end of the lighter socket is fusible link. The centre contact of the socket is seperated from the positive lug on the end by a fusible link made from a piece of solder. The two brass clamp terminals must be seperated by a thin mica wafer. Presumably this is designed to melt should the lighter get stuck in the socket and overheat. Originally the link was covered with insulation which made it hard to see where the break was. The photo shows a replacement piece of solder I have put in. The original link was crimped at either end. I have carefully soldered each end of the link at the crimps.
Took a while for me to get round to it but I got there eventually.
